Lane Avenue weaves its way through the various athletic fields and arenas on Ohio State's huge campus. I don't think it's the most important or well known road, but when I visit Columbus, Lane Ave always makes me exclaim:
Stop touching my %$^&*$ car, please
My Michigan license plates bring out the crazies on this congested road, no question. Pulling out of a gas station before last years game, a group of 4 people began pounding on the back of my Pontiac. At first, due to the shady nature of a couple C-bus neighborhoods, I assumed I was being panhandled. Wrong - just a few undergraduates (or graduates?) playing whack-a-mole on my back window.
I'm O-H-I-Ohhhing all over you're car man! It's crazyy!
Sitting in traffic later, people who walked by would accompany a derogatory shout (of which I am not complaining, trash talking is supported at TRE) with a pat on my Pontiac's ass. It was explained to me that, very simply, this is what happens in Columbus with MI plates.
Usually I wouldn't mention minor hazing traditions like these, but I'm clairvoyant sometimes, and I can just see my vehicle being rocked side to side by hammered OSU students after an especially galling Wolverine win...Good times, Michigan Week is.
