We actually predict Big Ten to go 5-2
losing Outback and Alamo
I don't understand why Alabama is so favored
Really, what is so great about them? Yes, they were very impressive against Florida and Texas barely got by Nebraska. But why do we base this all of off one game? Nebraska’s defense is much better than Alabama’s and I’m not at all sold on Alabama’s offense.
I think Texas will win or at least make it very, very close. Both teams have their warts, but there is no reason Alabama should be universally favored; many people are succumbing to the recency fallacy.
Personally, I like Bama's whole body of work a lot more than Texas' body of work.
Alabama crushed Florida, who was far better than anyone Texas played, also got a decisive win over a good Virginia Tech team, and also beat Ole Miss and LSU, neither of whom are great teams, but who are good teams all the same. Texas’ four best wins are probably Nebraska (very good defense, very very very bad offense), Oklahoma (very good defense, middling offense w/ so many guys out), Okie State (solid, but not great), and Texas Tech/Missouri (good offenses married to middling-to-poor defenses). Texas had all kinds of problems with the stout defenses Oklahoma and Nebraska had and were frankly a bit lucky that the offenses for those teams were so inept. Conversely, Bama has both a great defense and a very good offense; the running game has been a force all year and McElroy has played at a high level the past few games, too.
I don’t think it will be a blowout (Texas does have a good defense and I have a hard time believing Bama will be able to put together two basically perfect games together back-to-back), but I feel very solid in my Bama pick.
