Around SBN: Which Players Will Join The 3,000-Hit Club?

Wow. Mark Dantonio has a rep of coddling and inviting thugs to his program (email me for the Mark Ingram story), but who knew that a disappointing 6-6 season would inspire the players to act out like that.

Dantonio

has had one of the worst season I have ever seen for a Big Ten coach. He needs to send the Zooker a big X-mas gift for serving as his solar eclipse, because otherwise he would be hanging by a thread. First, his handling of the QB battle to start the season was as bad as I have ever seen. It cost the team at least one and probably three victories. They came out of the gate schizophrenic and have never righted the ship. No one has ever doubted the talent but he is all over the place with his emotions and decisions and it is not surprising that his team is reflective of that. One game they play like world beaters defensively (iowa) and the next they are giving up almost half a hundred (Minny, PSU). Keep in mind that Minnesota scored zero against iowa too.

I give him another year or two max and then he replaces Mason on the Big Ten network.

Agreed

His personality alone made him popular in East Lansing, because Spartan fans are so used to having blatant idiots at the helm. But my god – the mishandling of the QB situation, allowing Narduzzi to NEVER switch defenses up, taking a 9-4 team and barely making it a 6-6 team, endgame breakdowns…

It's his personality

which is why they will have to fire him. He isn’t lacking in knowledge. He has the knoweldge. He is psychologically a drama queen, basket case. He should be a coordinator at best. Or, he should be an abulance chaser or divorce attorney. He’s Mr. Passion and that is, actually, the worst thing to dump on 18 -21 year olds, who are all jacked up on caffeine and hormones. His personality will land MSU a major upset every year (or a close call ala Iowa) and three head scratching losses to inferior opponents.

They can have him.
