PrintAnd the overhyped, star making event known as the NFL Combine has begun. I will be posting statistics and stories from around the web about Big 10 players who are part of this combine.
My favorite combine story involves Deion Sanders, who had a reputation for incredible speed at Florida State. Legend goes that he ran a 3.9 40 time during his first year there. Anyway, everyone at the combine is crowded around watching him run the 40. Sanders flies out of the blocks quick and crosses the finish line with arms stretched wide, screaming "Pay Me!"

5’10’’ 168 lbs – Butler is a terrific route runner though and everyone at the East West game commented on the inability of db’s to cover him or read his quick first step…
Alex Boone, OL, Ohio State…put up a solid 33 reps on the 225 bench press, but that doesnt offset the fact that he faces criminal charges for his angry rhino tirade in Cali.

Leads all tight ends with 28 reps on the 225 bench press – it doesn’t mean he can block, but it does mean he has some strength…

Oh Boy
D-Will runs a 4.5 or a 4.6 unofficially. That is not a positive for a guy who was projected third round because of his supposed speed. Situations like this one illustrate why the NFL Combine can be a clusterf of epic proportions – Everyone who watched Williams knows that he can run and has extremely versatile skills. But if he is so much slower than other prospects at the Combine, should a team really bite on a kick returner/receiver who will get caught from behind?

Slave Auction Comparisons
Everyone talks about the comparison between the NFL Combine and the slave auctions of early America…It’s a stupid, meaningless comparison. When you are invited to the NFL Combine, that is the highest sign of respect from a league that wants to pay you a lot of money. When you were represented at a slave auction, this was the highest form of disrespect and degradation, a dehumanizing experience.
Useless, useless comparison…
Students from law schools all over must pass the bar of
whichever respective state they choose to practice in. Their schooling is not enough. They must prove themselves on an equal playing field known as the bar exam.
