Any Reason Why?
“Rules violation” seems a bit vague to boot a player who has some NFL prospects on a team in desperate need of help.
Belcher has played very well @ IU and it’s too bad to see him go out this way.
Kevin Wilson has a rigid way of coaching and doesn’t seem to put up with player’s who step out of line, but there better be a good reason behind this. I’d like to find out what exactly happened. Hopefully Kevin Wilson doesn’t get an unfriendly reputation among players and recruits. You want to almost “fearfully” respect your coach but you don’t want to dislike him and I hope that’s not what’s going on.

There's no word about a reason
The school has been pretty tight-lipped about it. Belcher is generally regarded as a “good kid”, so I don’t think that it is anything law-related. My wild-ass speculation is that it was a relationship issue with the coaching staff. There’s been a fair amount of attrition this year, which I see as a natural consequence of Coach Wilson’s intolerance for the loser’s mentality that has taken firm root within the program over the years. In other words: it’s hard to watch, but it’s the first step in a long process, so we are willing to deal with it. I wish Belcher the best, and hope he can make it professionally. But I don’t think that this is just a case of Wilson being a jerk.

Seems Odd To Dismiss Him Though
He’s been a stellar WR during his IU career and has Pro Potential. They could have suspended him indefinitely to make a point.
The season is over in a few weeks. He can then ride off to a possible career in Football. Seems like this would just be unnecessary baggage he’s stuck with now and has to explain it to possible NFL Scouts. So basically, the IU Coaching Staff did him no favors at the next level.
Everybody on the team is frustrated so not sure Dismissal was the best route, unless it was some heavy stuff where the Coaches had no choice.
