Ron Zook Fired by Fighting Illini
All things end badly. Otherwise, they wouldn't end.
We're guaranteed at least three new coaches in the Big Ten next year. Fans of eleven teams will miss seeing the Zooker at Illinois, but as JDMill tweeted yesterday, it's time for #Brewster4Illini

This will never happen...
…but Mike Leach at Illinois would be interesting…

I don't intend this to be mean, but it's going to sound like it
Luke Fickell might be available. To spike the ball on 3rd and 6 with 30 seconds left.
For what it's worth
That was a misunderstanding. The coaches were telling Miller to hurry up and run the play and he thought they were telling him ti spike it. The coaches actually wanted the spike on second down.
Then they could say
they didn’t get rid of Chief Illiniwek, they just locked him in an equipment shed.

Gotta happen, right?
Cheering for inconsistent, undisciplined teams [Twins, Wild, Packers, Hawkeyes] since 1989. "False Hope is better than No Hope"
Meh.
If he can’t win while Oversigning by extreme amounts, how would he fare in a conference that pretty much bans it?
I was thinking more along the lines
of Illinois looking at another medicore ex-SEC coach.
Some people just need a high five. In the face. With a chair.
Joe Pa has a few good years left in him
I’m just saying.
Come to
ILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLIIIIIIINNNNNNOOOOOIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSS!!!!
Nah, just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

PLAY FOR THE CHEEEIIIIFFFFF
Damn you NCAA! That would’ve been Grrrreeat!
When we get the Pig, the Jug and the Axe, we'll have one hell of a picnic
Why not Tom Bradley?
He’ll need a job, and he’s probably a pretty good coach.

Go Sparty! Go Bucks!
Frankly
Not a bad idea. PSU will clear house, and Bradley (right or wrong) may be a victim….plus the guy knows the conference, and is ready to be a head coach.
He could maybe bring Larry Johnson as DC
That would keep the DC pipeline open and be a promotion for him.
as an Arizona State alum
I’d reallly like to see the Devils go after Bradley. But he’s likely too smart to take that job. I do think they might take a chance on Leach though.

Bucky's 5th Quarter The best site for Badger news on the web!
If it made sense, it wouldn't be the BCS.
This should be Urban Meyer's job (although Illinois won't pay).
After all, it’s blue, it’s orange, and it’s loaded with Zook recruits.

So where does the Zooker go next?
What I-AA and Division II teams are blue and orange?

Go Sparty! Go Bucks!
University of Tennessee at Martin!

Looks like a pretty seamless transition from Memorial Stadium…
When we get the Pig, the Jug and the Axe, we'll have one hell of a picnic
Too many fans....
…to be Memorial Stadium. Unless we’re talking early in the season, before Illini fans give up on the team.
Still looks more packed than Ryan Field.
Side note, when should I expect the food to arrive?

Zook could have a spot on any college staff in the country
Tons of experience, tremendous recruiter.

Longest tenured coaches in the Big Ten
Joe Paterno 1966
Kirk Ferentz 1999
Jim Tressel 2001
Ron Zook 2005
Bret Bielema 2006
Pat Fitzgerald 2006
Mark Dantonio 2007
Danny Hope 2009
Brady Hoke 2011
Jerry Kill 2011
Bo Pelini 2011/2008
Kevin Wilson 2011
Next year, 7 coaches will have 1 year or less experience in the Big Ten. Going into 2010, only Danny Hope was in a similar situation.
I love those even more
Now that I know he won’t be touching Illinois football ever again.
They have two liter bottles now? To think I spent all that time demanding a liter!
norv Turner will likely be available
Tebow’d.

You don't need to bring in the Franchise Killer
Illinois football is already dead

This is where BTN revenue could start to pay off...
Schools like Illinois have benefited immensely from the additional revenue brought in by BTN, and I would think Illinois finally has the $$$ to bring in a big name. Whether or not that big name wants to coach in Champaign is another story. Illinois may not be Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, or Nebraska, but I’d put it right there with Iowa, Wisconsin, and Michigan State. And whoever takes over will be inherting a pretty talented team.
