Around SBN: The Most Dangerous Division in Sports

Did Ohio State lose its coach and quarterback on the same day? From what the Dispatch is reporting, it sure looks like the sharks that were circling around Tressel have begun a second loop around the quarterback.

And it should be noted, we still haven't seen the report from Sports Illustrated yet.

EDIT 1: And here are Jim Delaney's words on the matter.

Good. Hope he is suspended for the entire year.

Good riddance!

Meh.

To me, if nothing comes out of the inquiry, then whatever. If he gets suspended for the year, then welcome, Braxton Miller! (Please don’t transfer…)

I think many OSU fans could care less about Pryor at this point…

by OSUreds on May 30, 2011 5:14 PM CDT up reply actions

Well, they should probably care about what he did while he was there. Some of the stuff I’m seeing on 11W is extremely serious, more so than free cars, tats, and housing.

Sorry. I should clarify:

Football wise, I personally don’t care if Pryor plays this year or not, as I think he has wore out his welcome, and I think many OSU fans share that opinion. Obviously, OSU fans should definitely be concerned about what he did at OSU, when it comes to an NCAA violation (sanctions) front, since that impacts the program as a whole, regardless of whether he plays.

Fair enough

He’s been “all potential” for his entire career. Solidly above-average maybe, but he’s never been the elite guy that he could/should have been.

Well this sucks.

It’s only the end of May. Is there any way we can string this out til August? This is going way too fast.

Well I guess the only way OSU wins

is if they cheat like hell to do it.

this is not a referendum on OSU..this is on Jim Tressel.

This is on AD SMith and Gordon Gee. This might be a case study in business schools in the leadership 101 class. Gordon Gee and AD Smith shud leave too. “I hope the coach does not fire me” comment was stupid and bad.How many times does Gordon Gee bungle in a year. Calling out TCU and now this. This guy does not represent the Big ten.

my point exactly

“But make no mistake: the Ohio State situation, which is continuing to unravel, reflects poorly on a league that subscribes to higher moral standards.”

This is a referendum on OSU

When this SI article drops any minute now, we’ll know exactly how ingrained cheating is in the fabric of their football program, and how rampant, excessive, and institutionalized it was.

But for all we know, this article could be more harmful to Tressel than OSU. If the info it shows focuses on other things Tressel did WITHOUT OSU’s knowledge, that isn’t a lot of info the NCAA can use against the school itself. Now, they can still use it, but not nearly as much as if they did have knowledge, which would probably cause lack of institutional control charges, which would pretty much wreck the program (if it isn’t already) for at the very least a few years. So, it all sort of depends on if the allegations in the article focus on Tressel, or OSU. It is a huge difference.

I'll be honest

I hope Pryor never plays another down at OSU. I’ve defended him in the past chalking it up as being in your late teens/early 20’s because we call F up from time to time. Now I realize the guy is a pathological liar and not the kin do f person I want representing the university in any way shape or form.

Also, read the SI article. Thought it was just kind of a big “meh”. You know, besides raffle gate.
