UPDATE: Per Mark Silverman at the B1G Media Days, Cox Cable has reached an agreement with the B1G. All major cable networks in Nebraska are now on board. And here are the details on BTN2Go.

Get ready for BTN on your computer. Much like ESPN3, BTN is launching an internet presence, called btn2go. You'll get live streaming of all BTN games there. This includes your out of market game (i.e. Purdue fans in Minneapolis can go online to watch the Boilermakers game, even if the local BTN feed is Minnesota v. Michigan State).

This will cover football and basketball. As long as your telecom provider carries the BTN, you'll be able to log in and watch (same as ESPN3).

And another piece of the awesome: it will be available on iPads and iPhones.

Basically, Delany is all in at this point…..and has pocket aces to ESPN’s off-suited 10 and 5.

I love Delany for building the BTN.

Excellent

That’s great! On another note, didn’t BTN introduce a new logo/graphics package today?

Crap... COX still sucks

I just read the press release and Cox is nowhere to be found. If those guys manage to screw me again, I’m going to be angry.

Yeahhhh

You may want to think about a) a dish or 2) spending an unhealthy amount of time in a sports bar.

Yeah, but the alternative is DishTV...

And then going with Qwest for internet, which is like going with two tin-cans and string.

by KennardHusker on Jul 28, 2011 9:27 AM CDT up reply actions

Do you

already get the BTN on Cox? I’m just curious…I live in Omaha too. I’ve had BTN on my digital tier for quite a while now so…does that mean that they’ll strip it off my cable if they don’t come to an agreement? wtf is the deal?

by Nebula on Jul 28, 2011 11:44 AM CDT up reply actions

Well, it's a mess of a deal...

I asked about it and they said, “You have to have the digital tier, digital plus, AND the expanded sports package.” So they won’t strip it from their available channels, but you don’t get the regional feed necessarily and they will charge you a ton. Cox needs to deal… and fast. I mean, I sound a bit like a miser, but spending $100 on cable a month just doesn’t sound all that appeasing to me (or my wife who doesn’t exactly love sports anyways).

by KennardHusker on Jul 28, 2011 12:14 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah...

It’s gonna be a hard sell convincing my wife that my daughters don’t really need to see the dentist for a decade or two so I can have BTN.

They better get this figured out soon. I don’t want to set up a tarp in some back alley bar for the fall months for the rest of my natural life.

(Wait…do I?)

If i lived in Omaha

i would go to Melissa Midwest’s house for the games.

Ditto...

But Raven Riley is a HUGE Buckeyes fan and I believe still keeps a condo in Columbus. A friend of mine actually met her at a bar one time and tried to talk her into coming to our tailgate the next week. She never showed up :-(

Great idea...

…I kinda wish BTN would figure out a way to team up with EA Sports to create a BTN-version of the NCAA College Football game. You know, replace all the ESPN announcers with BTN staff/studio show….

by Chadnudj on Jul 28, 2011 9:34 AM CDT up reply actions

Or just a general sports game...

EA Sports Big Ten Athletics…. football, basketball, track (remember the old nintendo track and field game? that was awesome), baseball, soccer, hockey.

I bet you Thom Brennamen would be willing to do voice work with the EA crew… dude LOVES Big Ten Network.

Also, I’d jump off the pad during long jump and end up soaring 40+ feet.

I just got flashbacks

of getting 400 million extra lives on Super mario bros, World 3-3, by jumping on the turtle at the end on a stair and letting the Italian bastard hop on it between me and that stair. Thank you glich.

Wish i would have thought about using my hands during Track and Field. I probably wouldn’t have been yelled at so much for being too loud…

Well now I'm really considering getting rid of cable TV

I only keep it for BTN and ESPN for college football/basketball

Guess I missed this part

“BTN president Mark Silverman said BTN2Go will be offered exclusively through the network’s participating cable, satellite and telco distribution partners as an authenticated digital service to customers who already receive BTN as part of their video subscription”

Cox's agreement with BTN?

The only news I see on the BTN page is that Charter Communications has reached an agreement with BTN…anybody have a link confirming that Cox (Omaha) has an agreement? Maybe I’m just too eager, but dang it, it’s 2011 and I NEED TO KNOW FIVE MINUTES AGO!!!!!!!!!!!

by jrf2027 on Jul 29, 2011 10:25 AM CDT reply actions

I know...

I’m super impatient with this whole thing. I have faith they’ll work it out, though. This is Nebraska. We have football and…

a whole lot of furious people if they can’t watch football. They know they’ll face serious backlash if they can’t hammer something out before the season. Especially if all these other cable providers have already reached an agreement.

by Nebula on Jul 29, 2011 12:25 PM CDT up reply actions

That was my thought too, but...

See how many rabid Buckeye fans there are in Cleveland, and how long it took Cox to get BTN there.

Check the wiki

most of the larger providers picked it up that same year, and I know damn well that people here dumped cable en masse for satellite because of it.

Wait... from my iPod?

You mean, like… live streaming? Of a game in progress? While I’m watching another one on the screen?

I love you more and more every day BTN.

Betcha can't handle this 4-3 cover 2, mofos!
