This Iowa-Iowa State game almost makes me miss the pre-overtime days. Instead of a badly played game being salvaged by the possibility of a dramatic game ending two point conversion we get more badly played football (which I naturally can’t turn off).

Ah ... Dyche ... I mean Ryan Field

The only section that’s more than 1/3 full is the visitor’s. They should have shrunk the stadium down to 20K seats when they did that Ryan update in the 90s. Would be less embarrassing.

by WildBear Buckeye on Sep 10, 2011 2:35 PM CDT reply actions

I was only half kidding about the 20K seats, actually.

I don’t even think that stadium was sold out during the Rose Bowl and Citrus Bowl seasons. They could have made it smaller and cozier, but instead they made it bigger and emptier.

craziest fan story on ESPN.com

Freeman Reese (Alabama) For years, Freeman Reese and his late wife, Betty Reese, were a part of the small army that follows the Alabama football team wherever it goes, living in wedded bliss as they drove their “Crimson Express” RV around the South together.

But the Reeses are most famous — or infamous — for going to an Alabama-Tennessee game instead of their own daughter’s wedding. Let that sink in for a moment. To their credit, they drove straight from the game to their daughter’s reception.

“We warned her, ’Don’t get married on an Alabama Saturday,’” Freeman said.

They say blood is thicker than water — apparently not when that water is a Crimson Tide.

I got married on New Years' Eve

Our best anniversary was spent in Santa Monica in 95/96, meeting up with my college buddies and watching the Cats in the Rose Bowl. And yes, my wife loved every minute of it.

it was

A couple of years earlier, we had an anniversary planned for Disney, and Wisconsin made their first Rose Bowl in like 30 years. We had no tickets but showed up to the game in an attempt to get some. Came up empty, but had one of the most memorable dinners that evening down in Newport Beach.

Needless to say, Mrs. Bucky is a big college football fan.

Married my step-mother on new years eve also. he spent his anniversary 94/95 watching the Huskers win the NC game with her in Miami. He still has the pictures up all over the house.

What...

no mention of the piss in the bag story about Penn State fans???

Wow...

Rice lined up in the shotgun on 3rd & 1 (??), called a play action pass (??), and fumbled the ball giving purdue possession on the Rice 40. I thought Rice was supposed to be an institute of superior academics?

Well,

This week is looking like nothing short of an absolute disaster for the B1G. If Michigan loses tonight…

This has been a bad bad day...

I won’t be able to watch the Husker game tonight, but the way the B1G has played today, I’m getting a bit nervous. We should take care of business, but this has been wacky.

Yeah,

6-6 looks possible, if not likely (If Michigan doesn’t show up)

by OSUreds on Sep 10, 2011 5:46 PM CDT up reply actions

I hate ND and after today, Michigan better show up...

In other news, Minnesota can’t score from the one foot line and is letting NM State kill the clock. This is just depressing.

So who had the worst day?

I think it has to be Minnesota. Penn State was embarrassed the most publicly and Iowa lost to a rival, but New Mexico isn’t in the top 100 FBS teams.

I would agree.

Penn State wasn’t really expected to win today, so they should not get REALLY slammed. But New Mexico State? REALLY?

by OSUreds on Sep 10, 2011 5:44 PM CDT up reply actions

Minnesota, no contest

New Mexico State is specifically terrible. They got rolled by Ohio last week.

Wisconsin, Illinois, NW and MSU won, OSU managed a win..win is a win.

Iowa, Minnesota,PSU-they were who we thought they were.

Based upon what they're doing/saying

I’d say it’s heat stroke

Kill has a history of seizures. It's something he deals with daily.

Heat + Intense game situation = Bad

Hopefully he’s fine, indications are that he will be.

Here's to hoping Kill gets better

and that the gophers start the joking that will inevitably happen.
