A Poll: Are You Going To Watch The All-SEC NCG?

I am curious how many of us Big Ten Fans are planning to watch the All SEC National Championship Game. I thought a poll might be interesting.

However, I have to write a certain number of words. Word, word, word.

Here's another word, eventually, there will be enough words to this will be a Fan Post (that is two words) not a Fan Shot (another two words).

Personally, I am not planning to watch the game, but maybe I will. I am going to vote "no" in my own poll. So, another word and another word and now I am 100. I think that is the necessary number.

I didn't watch their earlier game either

because the OK State/K State game was so damn entertaining. I also didn’t watch the Sugar Bowl so I probably won’t watch this one either. I’m really hoping for a 4-2 derpfest.

I'll take a 5-2 multi-overtime snoozer

also where is the FUCK NO! option on this?

In the name of the Woody, the Bo, and the Mustache Ride. Amen.

My football watching ended with tSUN-VT

I am giving the title game a box of tissues and asking them to find another corner to squeeze one off in.

Personally it wouldn't matter if

it was all SEC, all ACC, or all Big East to me. I still plan on watching. Sure, I would have preferred a different matchup and am disappointed with “the system” for putting two teams that have already played during the regular season in the NCG for a rematch, but it really does have the potential to be a great game (or, as we’ve already witnessed, the potential to be a borefest). Regardless, these are two very talented teams playing in highest stakes game possible and if the action the field isn’t good enough I’m sure with enough alcohol I can trick myself into believing it is.

In retrospect

I wish I had just thrown my t.v. out of a window instead of suffering through that awful, awful, awful excuse for a NCG.

Not happening.

There’s no result that can convince me Alabama is more deserving of #1 than LSU – a season split without a road game (home and neutral) with a significantly worse schedule outside of those two games? Too bad, LSU is still ahead to me. Why watch a “championship” game that features an undeserving team voted in ahead of a team that could have had a legitimate claim to #1 by beating LSU?

It cost LSU a Golden Opportunity to be the most definite NCAAF Champion ever.

If LSU had defeated Okie lite, it could have been a year where:
1. The National Champion is the only team to have ran the table.
2. They defeated the PAC Champion.
3. They defeated the Big East Champion.
4. They defeated the Big 12 Champion.
…meanwhile…
5. The PAC Champion defeated the B1G Champion
6. The ACC Champion posted 4 losses
7. There wasn’t a strong argument for a mid major.

Instead we got:
1. Saban self promotion
2. A screwed over Okie Lite
3. A rematch of a regular season game
4. Idiot coaches, sportscasters, and former players following ESPN’s lead

Instead, we get… meh… the most ridiculous BCS title game ever.

I hope this draws a smaller audience than some non-BCS games… maybe then they will get the picture we aren’t buying everything they are selling.

Incredibly well said

I’m totally stealing this for elsewhere

Steal away... just be certain to refer to Oklahoma State as "Okie Lite"

You can also add
8. Defeated the #2 ranked team (had Bama won another bowl)

Also… congrats on landing a top RB.

Hell no! Gonna take the GF out for dinner that night.

This better get me major points – “Baby, I’m skipping the biggest football game of the year to take you out.”

The biggest football game of the year?

Look, I know there’s no way you’d miss a MSU-Michigan game if you could help it.

I did watch the first game.

I’m boycotting the other non-B1G bowl games, and didn’t even watch the first three quarters of the Sugar Bowl.

by airfigaro on Jan 5, 2012 9:50 PM CST reply actions

I have no plans on watching

if I happen to be someplace that is showing the game (a bar or the like), I’m sure I will glance at the tv a few times to see what’s going on. But I have no intention of seeking this game out and will ignore it unless it is literally shoved in my face

Inadvertent slip?
…it is literally shoved in my face

^ This is a good summary of how we got this game.

Two and a Half Men!

The fact I would rather watch that show than this game is an indicator of my thoughts on the game.

Hell yeah!

If Penn State fans and alumni truly believe that chant that echoes throughout Beaver Stadium ("We are....") then it's time to show it.

I'll be watching.

It’s the last meaningful college football game for eight months.

I hate the Packers with a blinding passion, and strongly dislike the Patriots, but if they make the Super Bowl I’ll watch that game for the same basic reason.

by Midnight Rambler on Jan 9, 2012 5:15 PM CST reply actions

It's not the fact that I dislike Alabama.

That didn’t help, mind you, but the basic problem is that we already know, with as much certainty as is possible in a relatively short season, which team is the best in each conference. If we’re going to arbitrarily select two teams to play for the title (a sample which is far too small, given the very limited inter-conference play), it had damn well better be two teams with legitimate claims to #1 – and Alabama has none. Even with the win tonight (which I did not watch one microsecond of), they split the season series (without playing a road game, even), and LSU’s remaining resume is infinitely more impressive than Bama’s. For that matter, I think Oklahoma State still has a better claim to the best season than Alabama does (although it’s closer than it was before the bowls).

In other sports we accept that the champion may not be the best team, but every team with a possible claim to being the best at least gets to try to prove their claim on the field. CFB’s resistance to a reasonable-size playoff is largely rooted in trying to make certain that the champion is the team that had the best season. A matchup that does not guarantee that is the worst of both worlds: not only do we have the usual complaints of a legitimate contender being left out, but now we get a “champion” who clearly doesn’t have a better season, on the whole, than the team they beat.

Whew

I’m glad I wasn’t dumb enough to waste my time watching that game. 5 more field goals, but with 1 late TD. Sounds like another pure suckfest.
