B1G Hockey this weekend!

For all you cool kids who have BTN on your cable/satellite package -- the Boston College Eagles take on the Minnesota Gophers tonight at the Mariucci Arena. It's one of the Big Ten-Hockey East Challenge games. Game starts at 8pm EST (7pm CST). BC and the Gophers finish up with an afternoon game on Sunday.

Minnesota is red hot with a 4-0 record with wins against Mercyhurst, New Hampshire (which apparently wasn't part of the Challenge games), and two against Bemidgi State. Boston College is 2-1 on the year with wins against Rensselaer and Wisconsin and a loss against Michigan (again apparently not part of the Challenge games).

In other news the two Michigan schools take on two other Hockey East teams tonight and tomorrow night. Michigan plays Boston University tonight then Massachusetts-Lowell tomorrow night. The Spartans swap opponents with the Wolverines this weekend (Massachusetts-Lowell tonight then Boston University tomorrow night). All four games are home games for the B1G squads.

Also Ohio State is still looking for their first win of the season when they do a home and away series with Robert Morris. (Go Bucks!) Thankfully, the good guys were left out of the Challenge. (And that's all I'm gonna say about that.)

Penn State comes back to Pegula Arena for the first time since their Army win. They host RIT tonight and play a neutral-site game against Vermont tomorrow night in Philadelphia. The Vermont game is supposed to be a Big Ten-Hockey East Challenge tie-breaker (if necessary).

For those of you keeping count... we're 1-4-1 in the Challenge thus far. Still not technically a fail. But... we're at home this weekend. Yay!

(Correction: we're behind 9-4 in the points system that was decided upon for the Challenge. Big Ten press release.)
