The main article still isn't up, yet, but I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on yesterday's games:
(SMCD has been delayed to this evening - here's your place to talk about the games, in the meantime. thanks to lonewolf for throwing his thoughts together! --MNW)
Illinois pummeled Miami (OH). Is anyone buying year-2 Beckman yet? They certainly seem better than last year. I don't know if they'll go .500 in Big Ten play, but they're definitely in line to possibly finish higher than Indiana and Purdue.
I can't believe Etling has been sitting on the bench for these first five games for Purdue. Yeah, I know he threw some picks, but in one half of football Etling provided more offense for Purdue than the team had really gotten the rest of the entire season. He's going to be good, really good. I'm pretty confident he'll be better than every other QB Purdue has had since Joey Elliott.
Iowa demolished Minnesota. I didn't really see that one happening that way. Iowa's offensive line looked like they were parting the Red Sea at points in the second half. I wasn't surprised at Minnesota's offensive struggles; you can't be THAT one-dimensional on offense.
And then of course there was the night cap where Ohio State beat Wisconsin. I was pulling for Wisconsin and thought they would do much better against Ohio State's new front seven, but Ohio State really shut the run down and it was surprisingly Roby that got abused. Even still, going forward I would bet on Ohio State's secondary having a good game more often than their front seven, but it would be most unfortunate if the entire defense happens to be good this year.
