I enjoyed the Ohio State run defense very much. You've got to bring that A-Game to survive the Badgers pounding your soul for 60 minutes....and the Bucks did, standing up many blocks at the point of contact and somehow holding Wisconsin to 104 (!!!) yards rushing. You talk about toughness and you work on explosion during the offseason...and then to see it manifest itself in that kind of effort, you know there are some happy OSU folks out there.
It was Deja Vu when Braxton Miller bombed a 40 yard touchdown with time winding down in the 2nd quarter. You have one job, Badger secondary, one job, which is not to give up the deep ball. Just like you had one job in 2011, when Braxton Miller tossed another 40 yard touchdown over the Wisconsin secondary..
Isn't it crazy when the things you think and predict, sort of vaguely come true? We at OTE figured the Bucks would win, as the talent level is high enough to withstand a Badger rush onslaught, but we also figured wisky would "get theirs" and make it close. And that all came true. It's like...we watch football or something.
Lane Kiffin. Fired. Midseason. Cold as ice, I say to you, that is cold as ice. But completely necessary, in my opinion. Firing him now lets the fanbase know: "Hey, fanbase, we screwed up with Kiffin. We screwed up bad. All those nice things we said or press conferences where we supported him? All for show. Want proof? Here's a cold cold midseason firing." It also lets coaching candidates and the fanbase know that USC won't put up with mediocrity and horrendous coaching.
What say you, reader? Do you support firing Lane mid-season? Or does it alienate players from the program and toss out any chances of 2013 being a decent season?
IOWA - MINI
The hawks put a physical beating on the Gophs in the Big Ten's first "hey look, we have two B1G teams with similar mediocre reputations, who comes out on top is anyone's guess" matchups.I get the feeling we're going to watch a bunch of those matchups this year.
Fun to watch Mark Weisman run that off-tackle play a few times for good yards.
Might have been one of the most entertaining games of the year. This whole "SEC passing game" is blowing my mind. We go from 9-6 extreme snoozers where OTE is arguing whether we should have to watch these games...to 40 something to 40 something longballfests with NFL-level quarterbacks. If I'm going to put up with SEC football, I am thankful it's watchable now.
