So, I am a lifelong Huskers fan, and lately it has become a long suffering Husker fan. But anyways, there is an old joke I heard a few years ago. For those of you that don't know, the legendary Monte Kiffin is a Nebraska native (you know who else is, Jason Street from Friday Night Lights). The joke goes; when Lane Kiffin was convinced Monte was away coaching. GET IT?! Lane is such a foul human that he surely could not be the seed of the loin or fruit of the loin (I dunno is that how the saying goes) of a great Nebraskan like Monte Tampa 2.
But anyways, so no one likes Lane, correct? Wrong. As smug as he could be, and bad as of a coach he can be; he does have one talent you cannot argue with, he can recruit. Now you are saying? If he can recruit how come his teams lose so much? True, but whenever he goes up for a five star stud he goes and gets them. Now you can say that is the product of being in USC, but he has a track record of doing it. He even did it in Tennessee, for you know, that summer vacation he took in Knoxville.
Me, as a lifelong Husker would not mind ol' Bo (master of the defense, as long as you don't stretch the defense or run it up the middle or use the playaction) hiring Lane as the recruiting coordinator. I mean we know he is a weasel that can get players to buy into whatever he is selling, so why not? You can sit him in an office and lock him there after hours, just don't feed him after midnight. And the same deal goes with Ron Zook, another terrible coach that can recruit. Hire these two to recruit B1G schools, you have money, throw them a half million (which by the way, when you are already neck deep in it, what is the big deal of going half a million more?) to recruit. All I know, Nebraska could not possibly do any worse than getting Lane to be in charge of recruiting. What say you, would you mind your school hiring Lane or Zookers to recruit?
