Unofficial This Week In SBNation Schadenfreude - Week 6

It's technically only the second one I've done, the first was posted over on Corn Nation. I had wanted to do more of them, but it got so little reaction, I assumed I was the only one who missed this feature from the Mothership. But this past week, a reader of Bucky's 5th Quarter e-mailed me saying he enjoyed it, and asked if I would continue. So, here's a follow up. I thought I'd post it here on Off Tackle Empire, to see if it needed a different audience.

We finally got the refs to give us a clearly wrong call. Hell yeah.

by HornPossessed on Oct 8, 2016 | 11:36 AM reply

Oh, I'm sure if we want to go back, we could find plenty of times Texas got the benefit of clearly wrong calls.

Forward progress? These refs blow.

Calls have definitely been going our way

Guys, guys, get your story straight. Are you getting the calls, or do the refs blow?

We have 71 yds. They have 281 yds.

by John_Behr on Oct 8, 2016 | 12:45 PM up reply

Could be because you're just not that good.

I like how everyone was still calling it the RRS, when it was "Rivalry".

So it forced them to put an S back in there but shootout is still too triggering so now we just have "Showdown".

It’ll be back to Shootout soon, hopefully.

by HornPossessed on Oct 8, 2016 | 1:31 PM up reply

::sigh:: I'll have to mark this date down, I agree with a Texas fan.

We've given up 450 yds already

Which means we’ll actually drop from our 12th worst D ranking in FBS

Have you ever actually played football?

Giving up 500+ yds per game is for losers, literally. Yes, that’s a stat. Points scored and points allowed are also stats. So are wins and losses. I can point out the correlation between these, but I can’t make you understand it.

Open your eyes and quit making excuses. This may be the worst coached teams in the history of Texas.

by Lonestar96 on Oct 8, 2016 | 2:15 PM reply

We don't have enough good players.

Pure and simple. Nick Saban or Urban Meyer couldn’t get this defense to improve. We’re averaging 40 ppg, which should be more than enough to win.

by Jverlander on Oct 8, 2016 | 3:33 PM up reply

Rivals rankings…

2016 – Texas – 7th (14 4* or better) 2016 – Oklahoma – 16th (11 4* or better)

2015 – Texas – 12th (15 4* or better) 2015 – Oklahoma – 14th (14 4* or better)

2014 – Texas – 20th (6 4* or better) 2014 – Oklahoma – 15th (9 4* or better)

2013 – Texas – 24th (9 4* or better) 2013 – Oklahoma – 15th (7 4* or better)

2012 – Texas – 2nd (17 4* or better) 2012 – Oklahoma – 11th (11 4* or better)

Yup, pure and simple. You clearly don't have the talent on the field to compete with Oklahoma, even with coaches of Saban's or Meyer's capabilities. Or are all 61 of those 4 and 5 stars on Offense (it IS the Big XII, after all).

Fuck in shit

Bielema is not a good coach. It is kind of simple really. There is a reason WI was glad to get rid of him.

I know we were desperate for a coach after the John Smith abomination. But Bielema is not the answer. Another mistake by Jeff Long.

by nodon7 on Oct 8, 2016 | 8:35 PM reply

Coach B is not our problem

We can’t recruit to play heads up against Alabama or aTm/ LSU for that matter. Coach B is doing with what he has. Want to blame someone, blame Rob Smith and Ask for his job. His defense is terrible. But again, he’s working with what he has.

by sean norris on Oct 8, 2016 | 8:38 PM reply

Coach B couldn't recruit at WI and cannot recruit at AR. Therefore he is our problem

by nodon7 on Oct 8, 2016 | 8:42 PM up reply

Just because we were desperate after the bufoon John Smith, a huge Jeff Long mistake, does not mean clown Bielema has a clue.

Stop supporting the total clown. My gosh it is ridiculous. We are not as bad as the moron John Smith made us look. Bielema is not doing well.

by nodon7 on Oct 8, 2016 | 8:41 PM reply

So if Coach B is not our problem, but yet we cannot win, just what is our problem?

Total idiot Petrino could win here obviously. Why can’t the fat one?

Time for fatty B to go. And the clown that hired him. Enough.

by nodon7 on Oct 8, 2016 | 8:52 PM reply

It's time for fatty B to go. Idiot, clown and total moron Petrtino proved that you can win at AR

But fatty B is moving us in the wrong direction. Bad hire by a bad AD. Time for them both to move on.

by nodon7 on Oct 8, 2016 | 9:22 PM reply

Wisconsin did not want him

When fatty B got hired I got on the WI fansites to see what they thought about it. They were glad to get rid of him. Even with his record off of Alvarez coattails. I knew immediately then we were in trouble. Fatty and staff have proved that beyond question. Time for him and his massive salary to go. Oh, and clown AD Long needs to go too.

by nodon7 on Oct 9, 2016 | 3:19 AM reply

Eventually, other Arkansas fans had enough of the coach-slamming. But, considering this is going up on Off Tackle Empire, with Wisconsin and other fans familiar with Bielema, there's really only one response to this guy.

Curious, how does that look? Those of you with experience, does a coach come up with a game plan that says "play like you're undefeated"? Is it that simple? And, if you do, it just works? You'll stay undefeated. And…will the other team, when they have a similar gameplan? 'Cause if YOU play like you're undefeated, and THEY play like they're undefeated…somebody's still gotta lose. I had attempted to do another one of these after Week 3, but didn't have the time to finish. But I did get to this game, and saw this guy. Now, remember that Maryland commenter who wanted the team to "hurt someone"? Two others jumped in to say that wasn't right (and they got rec'ed). Here, the AZDesertDawg *repeatedly* encourages the team to injure an opposing player. I went looking, and didn't see any video or reference to Fournette punching a Bulldog player.

It's college football. Not that it's right to do so for the NFL, but these are still young men in school. So, for my part, public SHAME to you (and the rest of the Miss. St. commentariat for not calling him out sooner*). The Bulldogs are currently 2-3, and I think I just might get a bit of schadenfreude from each of their losses this year.

*He did get into it with other commenters, but more about how you watch a football game is how you handle life.

There ya go. If you think this was worthwhile, let me know and I'll keep trying to do them.
