So the Big Ten signed on for the Gator Bowl to match-up its 3rd/4th non-BCS selection against the 2nd non-BCS selection of the ACC. Guess who crashed the party?
"The Konica Minolta Gator Bowl is on the verge of announcing a deal that will bring a Southeastern Conference team vs. a Big Ten team to the New Year's Day bowl game at the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, from 2010-2013."
So the Gator Bowl will now feature Big Ten non-BCS Team 3 or 4 (it rotates with the Insight Bowl) versus SEC non-BCS team 5 (after the CapOne, Outback, Cotton, and Chick-Fil-A). Based upon the Big Ten 3/4 and SEC 5 selection spots, last year's matchup would have been Northwestern/Wisconsin versus Vanderbilt. This will be three New Year's Day matchups between the Big Ten and the SEC.
