Big Ten Championship: MSU-OSU Open Game Thread

It's time to see who will be crowned the 2013 Big Ten Champion.

Mike Carter-US PRESSWIRE

Back in August, most people thought Ohio State would be the Leaders Division champion, and MSU was one of four teams that looked to slug it out for the Legends. Between them, Michigan, Northwestern, and Nebraska, that side of the conference, most people thought, would go down to the final weekend.

Yeah, not so much. Riding a stifling defense until Connor Cook and the offense found their sea legs, Sparty steamrolled the Big Ten, winning every conference game by double digits, and but for a frustrating loss against Notre Dame, this would be a defacto BCS National Championship semifinal game.

This is the second BCS championship game appearance for MSU in three years, and are looking to break through and win their outright conference championship since 1987. They came painfully close to beating Wisconsin that year, and had they not suffered their most recent SPARTY NO moment, would have won.

For the Buckeyes, they're riding a 24 game winning streak, and are back from the abyss of the tattoo scandal that saw them get a one year bowl ban, lose one iconic coach, but gain another. Urban Meyer has yet to lose as the OSU coach, and a win gets them to the BCS National Championship, against, presumably, Florida State. This is their first Big Ten Championship game appearance.

This game is going to be a monumental clash between the irresistable force and the immovable object. Ohio State is one of the best teams in the country running the ball, and virtually no one can run on Sparty's defense. It's going to be a great game, and we're set to kick off in about an hour or so.

Our stnadard open thread rules apply--no links or mentions of websites that provide illegal streaming of any games, no link to porn, and play nice with each other. We get that for our Sparty and OSU friends, you might get a little fired up, but try not to let this become a personal insult festival, okay? Okay.

Enjoy the game everyone!
