Big Ten Tournament Day 4: Notes, Recaps, Gamethread

The BTT Final Four! The new guys, MSU, Purdue, and Wisconsin

Caylor Arnold-USA TODAY Sports

Stories from last night:

Wow, that Maryland/Indiana game was a good one.  The first half made you feel like the game could break the century mark, and then in the second half it seemed that both teams cooled off and Indiana really cooled off from the 3 point line.  In the end, Dez Wells and Melo Trimble were too much for the Hoosiers, putting up a combined 39 points en route to a 75-69 victory.

Purdue ended the PSU magic with a 64-59 win over the Nittany Lions.  In a close game, Penn State did what Penn State seemingly did all year: they couldn't close it out late.  They had some magic in wins over Nebraska and Iowa in the first two rounds, but a rested Purdue with a decided height advantage inside and an inefficient game from Newbill eventually put them away.

Wisconsin and Michigan kept it close before Wisconsin eventually pulled away.  Frank the tank had a double double en route to their double digit victory.  Missed this one while at work...so yeah that's all I got.

And...Michigan State/Ohio State.  If ever tired legs showed from playing two games in 24 hours, it was this game.  Ohio State never really looked in this game as Michigan State rolled to a decided victory.  MSU had solid passing the entire game and it never looked like Ohio State had an answer.

Matchups Today:

1 Wisconsin vs 4 Purdue 1:00pm EST (CBS)

2 Maryland vs 3 Michigan State 25min after the previous game ends (CBS)

Wisconsin won the only matchup with Purdue earlier in the year and look to complete the season sweep.

Maryland won both matchups with Michigan State, one in double overtime to start the B1G season, and the other decidedly when they visited College Park.  Maryland looks for the season sweep, a full 3-0 over Izzo, which does not happen often.

Thoughts?

Which game are you all looking forward to? Who do you want to see in the final? All four teams are playing for seeding at this point, with Maryland still having an outside shot at a 2 seed depending on the outcome of other teams as well as if they can finish out as the BTT Champions.  Wisconsin now has a chance at the weakest one seed with both UVA and Duke losing.  I don't think that UVA drops from the one line, but Duke might if Wisconsin can win the Big Ten Tournament now that all top four seeds are in the semi's giving them quality wins to do so.  MSU and Purdue? Every win is gravy for them as they compete for the best seeding they can get.
