First things first, what happened in the first round?
Well, the B1G contingent wasn't as large as it might have been, but 3 former players went in the first 15 picks.
-Brandon Scherff to Washington at #5 (Hogs Haven reaction here)
-Trae Waynes to Minnesota at #11(Daily Norseman reaction here)
-Melvin Gordon III to San Diego at #15 (Bolts From The Blue reaction here)
Reaction to the first two seemed mostly positive. Some Chargers fans are a bit miffed about the price they paid to trade up just 2 spots, as well as taking a running back in the first round while their pass rush needs work. Can't please everyone, I guess.
Whoa, Randy Gregory fell all the way out of the first round?
Just say no, kids.
Who might we see go tonight?
I'll refer you back to this brilliantly written 1st round preview, which I'm sure you already read. Drug issue notwithstanding, I'd be floored if Gregory isn't off the board by the middle of the second round. SBN's Dan Kadar has the Jets taking him with the fifth pick of the second round, though the Jets did already spend their first-rounder on a DL and have plenty of other needs. He also projects a run of 4 straight B1G players at picks 57-60.
In no particular order, you should keep an eye out for:
-Ohio State WR Devin Smith
-Michigan WR/TE Devin Funchess
-Ohio State DT Michael Bennett
-Minnesota TE Maxx Williams
-Indiana RB Tevin Coleman
-Nebraska RB Ameer Abdullah
-Iowa DT Carl Davis
-Penn State OT Donovan Smith
Beyond that, teams would be reaching somewhat for anyone else out of the conference. Mayyyybe Michigan State RB Jeremy Langford or Rutgers TE Tyler Kroft gets a 3rd round selection. But other guys like MSU WR Tony Lippett, Maryland WR Stefon Diggs, and Penn State DE Deion Barnes feel more like 4th or 5th rounders.
