Are we having fun yet? I have to admit...five straight days of football to open the season is pretty fun. We're three games into it and we've already had our first scare last night when WMU played Michigan State much, much closer than they should have. Let's hope none of hte favored teams actually get upset today. Illinois was postponed to today at 2pm due to lightning so let's see if they can get the game in.
Today's games:
Richmond at Maryland || 12:00pm ET || ESPNU
The Maryland Terrapins take on the Richmond Spiders today at noon in what should be a tune up game and good practice for new starting quarterback Perry Hills and the revamped Terrapin defense. Maryland transitioned back to the 4-3 this season after running the 3-4 in the entirety of Edsall's tenure at Maryland, so this year could be a bit rocky in the move back.
#21 Stanford at Northwestern (+11) || 12:00pm ET || ESPN
Northwestern faces a stern test when the Stanford Cardinal travel to Evanston to open up the season. Stanford most recently handled Maryland very easily in their bowl game last year, so let's see if Northwestern can put up a bigger fight.
Illinois State at Iowa || 12:00pm ET || BTN
I'm way more concerned that Iowa is going to somehow drop this game than I should be. I just have this feeling that Iowa is going to somehow make this a 13-10 win on a last second field goal. Ugh.
Norfolk State at Rutgers || 12:00pm ET || ESPN News
How fitting that Rutgers, after the week they've had, are playing on ESPN News. Let's see how Rutgers can respond after the arrests on Thursday along with their star receiver suspended for the first half of the game.
Kent State at Illinois || 2:00pm ET || BTN2GO*
Let's try this one again shall we? Last night's game was postponed due to lightning. What will the Flying Beckman's Illini do in their first game under Cubit?
*I'm fairly sure I read that BTN2GO is going to stream this one, I could be wrong, but it's definitely not on TV
Penn State at Temple (+6.5) || 3:30pm ET || ESPN
The first game of the Penn State Soft(tm) schedule. Don't blow it guys. Penn State should look good in this game against a much worse Temple team.
BYU at Nebraska (-6.5) || 3:30pm ET || ABC
The first game of Coach Riley's tenure at Nebraska will put them in a very good OOC test against BYU. Let's see what the new guy can do.
Southern Illinois at Indiana || 4:00pm ET || ESPN News
How many points is Indiana going to hang on Southern Illinois through the air now that they have to replace Tevin Coleman? I think we see them revert back to a more spread offense and air attack until they figure out how Coleman is replaced.
#20 Wisconsin at #3 Alabama (-13.5) || 8:00pm ET || ABC
Hey Wisconsin, I know you have a new coach and all but if ever there was a time where you just asserted yourself in the run game the entire game using your Wisconsin Cheddar fed mountains of offensive linemen, let's hope this is that day. Alabama is favored by almost two touchdowns and you can be sure Saban hasn't let them forget the OSU game last year.
That's it! Normal rules apply: no illegal streams, no illicit photos/videos, keep it somewhat civil, have fun!
