Thank you to everyone who read, enjoyed, and commented on last week's Schadenfreude. Let's look into this past weekend's pain and suffering around SBNation's CFB blogs.
Tennessee lost to Alabama at home 49-10

On probabilities alone we will do better with a second shot. Might be a lot healthier too. We'll take it!

Good lord
Surely you aren’t serious???
Posted by ledzepworeorange on Oct 15, 2016 | 5:54 PM
Surely you want to win the SEC East! And play whomsoever comes out of the West. Whoever. Go Vols.
Posted by SEC4Life on Oct 15, 2016 | 5:57 PM
Poor Tennessee. If there are psychologists or other smart AAU folks reading this, is there a psychological term for those who wish for others' success, in order for them to fail…rather than succeed (and then fail) yourself? 'Cause I think I'm with SEC4Life (and negative points to you just for your ID). One should always support one's team and want them to win the division, even if it means certain death at the hands of Alabama (or Ohio State).
Oh, and don't call him Shirley.

So, the fat man-whorehouse comment was one thing. But to be immediately followed by "country pleasin' sausage"? WTH, Mississippi? There are children and BYU fans on the internet. Don't expose them to that kind of imagery without some kind of warning first.
For those of you over 18 and unrestricted by an honor code, there are other interesting comments from William in that gamethread…but read at your own risk. Don't worry, I won't tell your parents you read that kind of smut on the 'Net.
Wisconsin lost to Ohio State at home 30-23
Jet sweep is working great tonight.
What I am telling you is that the line between delusion and extremely high self-confidence does not exist.

This isn't about Wisconsin schadenfreude. Yes, they lost to the Buckeyes, in OT. But these comments aren't about that. This is about giving them a bit of schadenfreude. Because these comments gave me flashbacks to /Wisconsinscoredagain
Screw you, Wisconsin.
There ya go
Now can some of y’all just chill and enjoy the game without all the whining and bitching? Thank you and go Bucky

Flagged for not Internetting/Gamethreading right. I mean, come on. Even the winning team's gamethread is going to be filled with whining and bitching (and not just because it's OSU in this case). I would verify that, if LGHL had a gamethread (or didn't hide it from me). Come on you guys. So I verified on Corn Nation. Yep, whining and bitching.
Maryland lost to Minnesota at home 31-10
I don't want to look at the future
But we need to improve drastically in order to go bowling after this season. Our schedule gets more difficult each year with teams like Texas and WVU on the out of conference schedule. I like Durkin but I think the odds are stacked against him. We are no longer in the ACC and it is really showing. Bad seasons tend to produce more bad seasons. Could have avoided some of this by never hiring Edsall. I am starting to wonder if Edsall is better at being terrible when compared to Durkin being good. Sorry to rant, I just can simply not watch this team until they get better players. It is very sad being on the bottom of the B1G again this year.

How bad is your OOC schedule that Texas makes it more difficult?
(looks it up)
Oh…damn.
Someone paid these refs to rig the game
Bullshit holding calls on MD and PI calls. Minnesota does the same thing and doesn’t get called

Now, I was trying to avoid including #theserefssuck type comments, because they are ALL OVER the place. I'm amazed anyone is allowed to ref more than one game, ever, considering how they should all be fired for either being corrupt/bought, or just being flat out incompetent. But I have to laugh a bit at this one. Maryland, as a combination of a Freshman starting his first game, and just not being all that good, didn't do much the first half of this game (and let's be honest, not much in the second half either). Coming back from halftime down 14-0, the reason behind this is…the refs are rigging the game?
No, the refs aren't rigging it against you, Maryland just didn't put up a good fight against the Gophers.
Oh, and Maryland fans. I can understand why the nickname came about. But I would think calling your QB "Piggy" isn't right.
Michigan State lost to Northwestern at home 54-40
With experienced players that could move the ball somewhat despite obstreperous play-calling.
The offensive staff was exposed—again—against Alabama. And has been exposed in every game this year except in South Bend. That doesn’t mean Dantonio should be canned, but we have to acknowledge that there is some bad (that had usually been overcome by better Ds and special teams) along with the good that comes from stalwart loyalty to long-time staffers.
Mark my words: It will be very hard to repeat 2013’s success in 2017.

What? Ok, Indiana lost (tightened up…yes…but also lost). And Nebraska fans were, as I mentioned, whining and bitching about their team too. So, I wonder where this "competent" football was being played.
Besides that, no stormhawk27. Do not change the channel to Nebraska. You stay and watch MSU. You and your compatriots must stay and bear witness to the fall of the Spartan Galaxy, so that you may tell others in the future.
Virginia Tech lost to Syracuse on the road 31-17
Last thought: why do I feel like I’m watching the Syracuse network? The whole telecast has been seen through the orange’s perspective.

It's New York.. Sports is headquartered in New York.. all of the people live in New York...
And Syracuse is New York’s only 1A football team except Army…

I am entirely comfortable with the concept of the man cave!
by Mighty Fahvaag on Oct 15, 2016 | 6:02 PM up reply
Let's see, how many insults are here? Buffalo, an FBS/1A football team in the State of New York, is completely forgotten about. And then there's the mighty sleeping giant Buttgers, NYC's college football team (at least Jim Delaney and 12 university presidents thought so). This would also suggest that Syracuse is NYC's team (since we're talking about Media, the rest of the state doesn't matter) At ~240 miles away, these other schools are all at the same distance or closer:
Temple is just ~90 miles away, Navy is ~215 miles away, and Maryland is ~225 miles away. Penn State is ~235, and UCONN is ~140. UMASS is ~170, and Boston College is ~210 miles away. Not that NYC would support BC necessarily. Army (as mentioned by the poster), Buttgers, and all of those other schools I list are closer to the NYC market and sphere of influence than Syracuse.
But yeah, big media is totally in the bag for Syracuse, because they're NY.

Any time you have as many punts as pass completions
it is probably going to be a long day.

To be fair, by the end of the game, there were more completions. But…it was close.

Just as a comparison, Rutgers at Washington (which had a similar score, 48-13), Rutgers completed 24 passes v. 8 punts. Good for you, Rutgers. Maybe you're not as bad as ASU. (yes, I'm conveniently not mentioning two other recent games)
