2016 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament: Semifinal previews and open thread

We're down to the final four teams in the Big Ten tournament!

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Today we're going to set the stage for tomorrow's championship game at 2pm Central Time in Indianapolis.

8 seed Michigan Wolverines vs 4 seed Purdue Boilermakers

12pm Central Time on CBS

Yesterday the Wolverines defeated the 10th ranked Indiana Hoosiers 72-69 on a late 3 pointer from Kameron Chatman with 0.2 seconds left. The Boilermakers kicked the crap out the Fighting Illini 89-58 with center Isaac Haas scoring 16 points.

The Boilermakers hope to avoid being Michigan's latest victim.

2 seed Michigan State Spartans vs 3 seed Maryland Terrapins

2:30pm Central Time on CBS

Yesterday Tom Izzo's second ranked Spartans destroyed Ohio State 81-54 with 19 points from Denzel Valentine and 13 points from Eron Harris. The Maryland Terrapins defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers 97-86 with 26 points from Jake Layman and 23 from Diamond Stone.

Today Denzel Valentine hopes to have a much better outing vs the Terrapins than he did last year in the Big Ten tournament as the Spartans are willing to do whatever it takes to get veteran coach Tom Izzo an eighth Final Four appearance and a second national title.
