(Fall sports update here.)

Current Standings

The results through the completion of the winter sports:

And the current B1G All-Sport Standings:

Note: As always, in the event of a tie for last place, both teams are given the lower rank--for example, two teams tied for last in football will both be ranked 14th rather than 13th.

The current standings compared to last year's finishes:

B1GASS Notes

  • Michigan and Minnesota are looking very strong right now, both sitting above last year's first place percentage of 0.660 belonging to Ohio State. However, neither lead is insurmountable, and spring sports were the downfall of Michigan last year--sending them from 1st to 3rd--so they've got their work cut out for them to hold their lead.
  • Ohio State currently has a CS% of 0.660, exactly matching their winning percentage from last season, so history (sample size: 1) suggests that if they can maintain that level of performance, they'll come out on top.
  • At the moment, the largest swing from last year's final standings belongs to Illinois, who finished a strong 4th place last year but is now sitting in 13th.
  • The second largest swing from last year belongs to Indiana, who has risen from 13th to 5th, challenging Penn State for 4th.
  • Northwestern and Maryland both look pretty bad right now, but both schools' best sports are clustered in the spring. Look for both to jump dramatically between now and the final standings.
  • Rutgers is still sitting in last place, but at the moment have improved upon their CS% from last year, from 0.176 to 0.254. Progress!
  • The final B1G All Sport Standings and the B1GASS Cup winner will be released in July, once the US Dept. of Education releases financial information for the athletic departments and I have a chance to sift through the data and include it.
