Happy Friday everyone, and welcome to championship weekend! This week we’ve got 2,000 piece puzzles, MACtion, and as always, plenty of Grain Belt. Let’s get to it!
Creighton: I’ll be hanging out in Charlottesville drinking Hipster Brunch Stout from Odd Side Ales and Bourbon Barrel GBS (Gingerbread Stout) from Hardywood. Three Notch’d Brewing in Charlottesville recently opened up a new sour house in town where they specialize in sour, wild and barrel aged beers, so perhaps I’ll go check that out as well.
Speth: I'll be in Oshkosh, drinking and not rooting against the Badgers. Can't wait to play Auburn in the playoffs and beat them for the third time in a row.
Candystripes for Breakfast: I don't even know if I'll be watching the game. If I do, it'll be with Vanilla Coke at my side, because I'll probably be spending the evening at home, rather than in the madhouse of Buckeye and Badger fans in downtown Indy.
BigRedTwice: I'm in California, and I'm not sure I'll even be watching, which just makes me one of the best "writers" here. I might check the score off and on, but maybe not. Football season is dead to me.
Graham: Oscars in Midland, Michigan watching the game with some good friends. Rooting for the Badgers.
Dead Read: I will be in lovely downtown Lincoln, watching all of the conference championship games. The UCF-Memphis game will be of particular interest. In related news, I will be checking my phone for breaking news after the games are completed.
MNWildcat: I received a text today from my buddy saying "I’m so excited to just watch a shit ton of football with you on Saturday." That's a very good thing, because we will be at the cabin with our significant others, who would like to go for nature walks and do puzzles.
I'm not editorializing. That's literally (1) what the fiancee told me she would like to do. It's a bad thing because my buddy's a badger fan, but a good thing because there are going to be some fun-ass championship games on TV and I would like to watch them and not do a 2000-piece seascape.
But I'll be in Spooner again, at the cabin, sitting on the couch looking at a TV against the backdrop of an iced-over lake, rooting for the badgers to lose by 75. Beers will likely be provided by Exile and Confluence Brewing in Des Moines, which is where I will be until Friday at about 1pm.
That's right. Driving from Des Moines to Spooner today, kids. Get fucking excited.
Aardvark Kosmopolis: I and our esteemed Illini writer/shitposter will be in downtown Detroit, witnessing the MACpionship live from Ford Field. We will not partake in overpriced Bud Light, but will see what local hijinks we can get into.
LincolnParkWildcat: I’ll be somewhere in the far northwestern Chicago suburbs celebrating my grandmother’s 90th birthday. I’ll peek at the score on the phone. I’ll laugh my ass off if this is like 2014 again.
WhiteSpeedReceiver: I'll be in suburban St. Paul, doing yard work before the football starts and drinking a Grain Belt or two.
Stew: My wife's side of the family decided to do Christmas this weekend. So I'll be missing a big local beer release, and likely lots of football. Someone shoot me. I hate Christmas. Bah humbug.
Aaron: I'll be at work, but at least I'll be able to watch. I'm still mad about being at a birthday dinner during Michigan State vs. Iowa.
That’s it for us, but what about you guys? Who are you cheering for? What are you drinking? LET US KNOW IN THE COMMENTS!
