In a driving snowstorm seemingly conjured out of the ether to match Army’s 10th Mountain Division alternate uniforms, the white-clad Black Knights defeated Navy to capture the CIC Trophy. Secretary of State (for now) Rex Tillerson presided over the frigid scene, which saw Army drive the field to score the winning touchdown.
Navy’s comeback attempt melted down when the Mids false started twice, turning a comfortable 38-yard field goal into a 48-yard shot. Bennet Moehring, Navy’s leading scorer of the day, blasted the ball toward the upright in an attempt to cement his name in Army-Navy history. His kick sailed wide to port.
Army adavcnes to 9-3 on the season, while Navy falls to 6-6.
The tide has turned.
