Week 4: Big Ten Stock Report

Penn State pulled off a stunner, Michigan wins convincingly, and the Maryland hype train has ran off the rails

NCAA Football: Penn State at Iowa Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

What a week for the Big Ten and not really all in good ways. Penn State barely pulled out the win against Iowa, Maryland lost yet another quarterback, and Purdue came back to reality (kind of).

Stock Up

Nebraska Cornhuskers - After losing to Northern Illinois there was no other way to go but up. Thankfully Nebraska played buttgers, who despite their nickname is the cure to all problems. Next up: Illinois.

Indiana Hoosiers - Looks about right for playing directional Georgia school. TBH, I didn’t even check in on this game but 52-17 makes everything feel better if you’re Indiana. Next up: Penn State

Michigan Wolverines - Michigan effectively shutdown the so far potent Purdue offense while putting up 28 of their own points. The offense is still a question mark and their down to a backup but there is two weeks to work on that. Next up: bye.

Stock Holding

Penn State Nittany Lions - Your team is a reflection of your douchebag coach, James Franklin. Saquon Barkley on the other hand looks like he is completely unstoppable, basically running the Penn State offense until the red zone. A last second score is the only thing that kept Penn State from a loss. Next up: Indiana.

Iowa Hawkeyes - Good try, Good effort. Seriously, if Iowa had any semblence of an offense other than running Akrum Wadley they would have won this game. Things being as they are, that didn’t happen. Josey Jewell continued to tear up the stat sheet in the game and looks like an early All-American candidate. Next up: MSU.

Ohio State Buckeyes - Yawn. UNLV lost to Howard, no one is gaining any sort of meaning or insight from this game or the next. Next up: rutger.

Wisconsin Badgers - bye.

Minnesota Golden Gophers - bye.

Northwestern Wildcats - bye.

Illinois Fighting Illini - bye.

Stock Down

Maryland Terrapins - Hello max 3 wins. Maryland quarterback Kasim Hill went down on the 2nd drive of the game and the rest was history. The hit didn’t look good in person and I haven’t had the stomach to watch any replays. Max Bortenschlager should not be starting for an P5 team. Next up: Minnesota.

In positive news for the Terps, unlike rutger, we show we belong in the B1G and WSR has already proposed marriage to this fine young woman:

Purdue Boilermakers - I don’t even have the drive to say anything bad to Purdue. In Year 1 of a rebuild Purdue has already shown more than anyone expected and a loss to Michigan was definitely expected. What wasn’t expected was holding them under 30. Next up: bye.

Michigan State Spartans - And I thought Sparty was back. Too bad they decided to play how many times can I turn the ball over again. Next up: Iowa.

rutger Scarlet Knights - I mean really, there is no hope here. Next up: Ohio State.
