First a little backstory about my favorite subject, me. Baseball was the first sport I fell in love with. They say smells are what triggers memories the best, and I believe them because of the nostalgia I feel when I smell a baseball glove and oil. However, I have not really paid attention to baseball since 1994. Why? Because the long suffering Indians finally looked like a World Series winner and the greedy owners and players couldn’t be bothered to come to an agreement to finish the season. I have rarely looked back.

(The Bobcats rally penguin might have been the story of 2017 if anyone was paying attention).
Then last season I decided to follow the Ohio Bobcats to the NCAA baseball regional in Lexington, Kentucky. The sights and the sounds certainly brought back plenty of memories. Not only did it remind me of how much I loved the game but it also reminded me of just how little the game has changed. While I still wont pay much attention to the Major Leagues (I turned off the TV when the Cubs and Indians went to extra innings in game 7 and went to bed) I made a vow to follow the college game this season.
True to my word, I have been doing some research on the upcoming season and seasons past. Indiana, one of the 4 teams at the Lexington Regional, is the only B1G team ranked in the preseason top 25. Ohio State was down last season, but if their sports information department can be taken at their word, they should be back to contending for stuff.
Also, Ohio State had their meet the team today and were visited by former Buckeye and MLB great Nick Swisher.
Hail, Hail the gang's all here.@NickSwisher too. Meet The Team tonight. ⚾️#GoBucks pic.twitter.com/Pq1yZNdJ6X

That’s all I got.
I am not going to sit here and pretend to be some sort of expert on baseball, especially the modern game. I can name more players off the 87 Cardinals roster than I can current players, and by current players I mean the entire league, not just the Cardinals.
However this season, I am going to be covering the B1G baseball season, and the MAC over on Hustle Belt. Baseball is right around the corner and I am excited. Not just because that means that warmish weather is too, but because instead of just waiting for the NCAA basketball tournament and then the long wait till football season starts, I have a long lost sport to follow, too!
So I invite all the loyal and mostly dysfunctional OTE readers to join me on this journey of relearning baseball!

HECK NO, I only watch the major leagues because I love it when a lefty that can hit the strike zone 10% of the time gets 10 million per!
