After finding themselves in trouble early, the baseball Buckeyes were able to rally late to knock off 16th ranked Southern Mississippi in the Cox Diamond Invitational.

OSU starting pitcher Ryan Feltner was solid early against a potent Southern Miss offense, only giving up 2 unearned runs in the first 4 innings. Then the flood gates opened in the 5th, and Feltner gave up 4 runs, giving the Golden Eagles a 6-2 advantage.

The Buckeyes were down 6-3 in the eight when the Buckeye offense used singles, a walk, and an error to score 4 to take a 7-6 lead. The rally could have been even bigger, but a double play ended the inning with 2 on base. Ohio State added 2 more insurance runs in the 9th on Noah McGowan triple and Nate Romans sac fly.

Seth Kinker pitched the final 2 innings for the Buckeyes, giving up no runs, no hits, and one walk. He struck out 3.

The Buckeyes moved to 7-3 on the season. They take on the 2-8 Eastern Michigan Eagles tomorrow at 11 AM in Pensacola, Florida, for their last game of the invitational.
