That’s bad.

and when she told university employees, they discouraged her from going to police, according to a federal lawsuit filed Monday.

That’s...that’s just fucking unconscionable.

Here’s the full story in The Detroit News, if you’d like to read another example of Michigan State’s athletics department being tied to something fucking terrible.

This is just another shitty drop in the overflowing-with-shit bucket that is Michigan State’s Athletics Department.

Covering up rape committed by athletes. Named in FBI probes. Enabling a child abuser. Dragging their feet on bringing that child abuser to justice. Eleven football players accused of rape since 2007. Refusing to prosecute basketball players accused of rape.

It is not a coincidence, it is not a few bad actors. It is a repeated, institutionally-uncontrolled pattern of complete and utter disregard for oversight, Title IX, the safety of Michigan State students and children, and damn near everything else you expect out of a half-civilized society.

Maybe one of our Michigan State writers will care to make a comment. I don’t blame them for not making a public post right now or, frankly, for a while, regardless of their position on the matter. Rumor has it at least a couple alumni have received donation solicitations in the mail in the last few days. I hope they don’t just throw them away—I can think of a few things worth sending to this athletics department.

And it should be burned down. Let’s make no mistake about it. It has repeatedly and without the whiff of oversight continued to put athletes, students, and children at risk. That can’t stand, and there need to be swift, severe, and debilitating consequences. Wrap yourself in your green and white flag all you want; we’ll remember you just like we’ll remember rioting students protecting a shit statue of a complicit human being.

We’ve punished one program in the Big Ten for this culture.
