ESPN’s Joe Lunardi is their expert on the NCAA Basketball Tournament bracket. Apparently he is a bracketologist, and keeps a tab going throughout the season. His latest installment can be found here. I personally was interested to see where my backsliding Buckeyes would be, but decided to check on your favorite teams while I was there.
- Michigan Wolverines (1 Seed)
- Michigan State Spartans (2 Seed)
- Maryland Terrapins (4 Seed)
- Nebraska Cornhuskers (5 Seed)
- Purdue Boilermakers (6 Seed)
- Wisconsin Badgers (6 Seed)
- Indiana Hoosiers (7 Seed)
- Iowa Hawkeyes (8 Seed)
- Ohio State Buckeyes (8 Seed)
- Minnesota Golden Gophers (10 Seed)
That’s a lot of B1G teams. Heck, I almost had to go to the toes to count them all. As the season shakes out, some of the lower seeds might fall from the rankings, or they could cement their position with a win over a school from Michigan. What seems unlikely is that one of the 4 teams not currently in will make a huge push to make the tournament, so I would say 10 is the most the Big Ten would get in. One or two of those currently “in” might drop off, but I would be shocked if it is more than that.
How many teams do you think will make it out of the Big Ten?
