Tiebreakers decided who made first team: Who among Illinois, Penn State, and Indiana will be mad?

NCAA Basketball: Maryland at Michigan State Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

Nine OTE writers voted, then we flipped coins and considered what would make Purdue fans most angry.

Also Receiving Pity Votes

*Listed alphabetically

G Jordan Bohannon (Iowa), C Luka Garza (Iowa), C Daniel Oturu (Minnesota Golden Gophers), G Rob Phinisee (Indiana), C Micah Potter (wisconsin), F Nate Reuvers (wisconsin)

Player of the Year

G Cassius Winston, Michigan State

It’s worth noting, controversially, that this is NOT a unanimous decision, as Aaron Yorke opted not to cast a ballot in this hotly-contested race.

Hey, even Stalin only won with 99% of the vote.

Coach of the Year

Chris Holtmann — Ohio State (4FPV)

Also Receiving Pity Votes: Tom Izzo (2), Mark Turgeon (1), Tim Miles (1)

Explained by beezer07: Who’s the coach at OSU? Going with that guy, because the team was bad enough last year that a non-1st finish could win the award but not SO bad that there’s no realistic shot of OSU finishing top 3. Plus they obvs tanked Micah Potter’s waiver eligibility for a competitive advantage, which you’ve gotta respect. [MC ClapYoHandz note: “They actually wrote letters of support for his waiver which was crazy classy, and also apparently didn’t matter to the NCAA.”]

2nd choice to Tim Miles for the work he’s about to do as an announcer.
