I’m late getting these out. Enjoy Tom Crean yelling at Georgia fans after some idiot threw a stuffed animal on the court, incurred a technical, and cost the Bulldogs a potential home win over Mississippi State:
Tom Crean with a more direct way to handle a fan situation at Georgia. Grabbing the PA mic after someone throws a stuffed animal on the floor during a crucial moment of the game.

#15 Purdue Boilermakers 48, Indiana Hoosiers 46
Boilerman31: Purdue won, but make no mistake, this was ugly basketball. Carsen Edwards’ funk since the second half of the Maryland game continued.
Indiana’s student section chanted profanities at Matt Haarms which turned into a huge mistake when he tipped in the game winner with 3 seconds to play. I still feel dirty. Let us never speak of this game again.
#24 Maryland Terrapins 66, #21 Iowa Hawkeyes 65
DJ Carver: Maryland won, barely, but it’s the first road win against a ranked opponent of Mark Turgeon’s eight year tenure.
Anthony Cowan finally showed up some on offense, Bruno Fernando showed up big in the second half, and we are left with Jordan Bohannon complaining a lot on Twitter but happy he got his mom’s cookies after the game ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Maryland suddenly looks like they will finish this end of season stretch 5-2 when it looked like 4-3 was the best it would achieve. They’re a lock for the tournament now and are playing for seeding.
Slackbot Custom Response: I SAID BOHANNON’S ON TIMEOUT
[MNW Note: I declared that Jordan Bohannon was “on timeout” in our basketball channel for violating my “stop bitching about referees constantly” rule that I just kind of yell at DJ and Stew and Boilerman and that they constantly ignore. Someone made this wonderful auto-response. It still applies: Jordan Bohannon is on timeout.]
Stewmonkey13: Iowa couldn’t pull a third buzzer beater for the win as Jordan Bohannon’s shot was off the mark.
*insert a bajillion awful arguments about if it was a foul*.
It doesn’t matter, it wasn’t called, it was borderline, and Iowa had plenty of opportunities to get the win. The post players for both teams got into foul trouble. And while Maryland was able to hit some 3s, Iowa couldn’t, and that’s really where the game was lost.

Penn State Nittany Lions 95, Nebraska Cornhuskers 71
BigRedTwice: Ok so Nebrasketball might really be well and truly broken now. I could only stomach half of that one. The shooting, the abominable shooting! Ye gods. Purdue on Saturday will be a bloodbath.
Wednesday
#10 Michigan State Spartans 71, Rutgers Scarlet Knights 60
Andrew Kraszewski: MSU had its hands full in their first game post-Ward injury with a spry Rutgers team in town. Once again, though, Cassius Winston made his case for CPOY, and with Xavier Tillman picking up some scoring slack, MSU pulled away late.
It’s not fair to expect this much from Winston every game, and if the bench only contributes 2 points against Michigan on Sunday, MSU won’t keep it within 10.
Ohio State Buckeyes 63, Northwestern Wildcats 49
MNW: Nope. Nope nope nope nope nope.

...OK, I caught a second wind. This is pathetic. Yes, the Big Ten is up this year and tougher top-to-bottom than any year in the Maryland/Rutgers era. Yes, things have been tough for Northwestern since Jordan Lathon’s scholarship and offer were revoked by the university last spring (Lathon is scuffling with UTEP right now, if that’s any indication of how well this would’ve gone). Yes, injuries have happened.
That excuses none of what Chris Collins has put on the court in 2018-19.
Ohio State adjusted its offense at halftime, moved the ball through the post and Kaleb Wesson to its perimeter shooters (one asshole in particular whose name I don’t care to remember who’s not really an asshole, just let me vent), and just bullied the Wildcats in the post. Over half the Buckeyes’ points were in the paint, and that’s understating it, but again, not bothering with stats here, because this was a game where the most commonly-cited stats are probably from the 2/1000043498342 combined start to the game from the field. And the Buckeyes adjusted, got into the paint, and just bullied Northwestern. It was like Jared Sullinger was pushing Luka Mirkovic around all over again, and I felt bad for Dererk Pardon in his return home (he’s from Cleveland), because he banged with the Buckeyes’ bigs for as long as he could; when your offense, though, is “just clang 25 threes from deep and shoot 20%”, it’s basically a wasted effort.
Credit the players for continuing to play hard, but this team is lost, this season is lost, and this program is two years from seriously competing for the NCAA Tournament again. Collins’ magical tourney run is looking like a blip.
Thursday
#7 Michigan Wolverines 69, Minnesota Golden Gophers 60
WhiteSpeedReceiver: I didn’t leave the office until about 10 last night. From what I heard glancing at twitter from time to time, it was absolutely the right decision.
