When Nebraska Cornhuskers Athletic Director Bill Moos said he was going to move in 7-14 days, what he meant to say was that he would have the deal done by Saturday. According to literally every news outlet who care about such things - Omaha World-Herald, Lincoln Journal Star, 247Sports, ESPN - Fred Hoiberg will be announced as the next Husker Men’s Basketball Coach in a press conference on Tuesday.
While the specifics obviously aren’t released, it sounds like the former Iowa State Cyclones and Chicago Bulls head coach will be making quite a bit of money with figures probably above $3 MM a year. Expectations will be high, but to be fair, Hoiberg also brings in a little stronger resume than we’ve seen in Lincoln for a while. How much stronger?
Fred Hoiberg is the first men’s basketball coach hired at Nebraska with experience in a major conference since Harry Good was hired from Indiana in 1946.

Yeah, so it’s been a little bit since Nebraska has swung for the fences. Lots more to come in the next few days, especially as the details get announced. Nebraska probably just got better, and love him or hate him, the Mayor is coming to Lincoln.
