Big Ten Non-Conference Schedule: Bill Connelly’s Team-by-Team Previews

A conference-specific list of what to expect in the non-conference.

NCAA Football: Akron at Northwestern Quinn Harris-USA TODAY Sports

We’re preparing to ramp up for B1G 2019, our team-by-team previews of the Big Ten. Those will kick off the first full week of May (likely with Rutgers—get excited)!

In the meantime, though, we hope you’ve been enjoying our Spring Position Previews, from the best QBs and quickest RBs to the big uglies up front on both sides of the ball. See all the lists here:

All this got me thinking about the non-conference schedule—which I, as someone who likes to bore you with Don’t Watch This; Watch That on a weekly basis, care about. How much do I like to bore you? I read a South Dakota State Jackrabbits message board this morning.

Which is to say, I have a problem.

But we’re a couple weeks from B1G 2019, and absent a position ranking at the moment, I started to do some research for our non-conference previews (Beyond the Empire), and figured I could share those with those of you who care about the fortunes of the Buffalo Bulls, UNLV Rebels, or Temple Owls.

If you haven’t heard then—and how can you not have—SBNation’s Bill Connelly (of Football Study Hall and S&P+ and 130 team-by-team previews fame) ranks and previews all 130 FBS football teams in excruciating, painstaking detail. It’s amazing and helps me know what’s happening as I tune in to beIN Sports to watch Marshall-Florida International on a Saturday afternoon. Go see his work in the previews and at Football Study Hall:

So, in my never-ending munificence, I compiled them for you (sorted by team, with the home team in italics):

I’ll try to keep this pinned and updating as time goes on. In the meantime, feel free to share what you’d like to see from Off Tackle Empire in the off-season and during B1G 2019! Just a couple weeks until Hate Fridays come back...
