New Big Ten Uniforms 2019: Maryland Outshines All

Look, I’m the biggest Maryland fan writing here, but I also understand we aren’t the best with uniforms. Red out? Meh. Maryland Pride 1.0? Meh. All of these things were cool in Maryland but relatively fell flat on the national stage and simultaneously made a meme out of Maryland citizens and their obsession with the state flag.

At the same time, being the flagship school for Under Armour has its...advantages. They drop a ton of money to us. They drop money for capital expenditures (thanks, Kevin!). That all comes with an expense, which largely has shown that it means that the Maryland Terrapins are the defacto R&D arm of Under Armour with college uniforms. College players seem to love it. Fans either love or hate it. There is no in between but general agreement that it becomes a strong talking point if college uniforms come up.

I say all of this to say...WTF B1G? Somehow, someway, Maryland has churned out the best throwback uniform for the year. I ask you B1G, how did you let this happen? Michigan State, Northwestern, Wisconsin, and Maryland so far have released jerseys under the College Football 150 campaign and Maryland came out sporting the best so far from the conference? Don’t get me wrong, I’m elated. They’re sharp, featuring a much more plain look that differs from the louder uniforms since the Maryland Pride movement, and bring back the Terps script on the helmets! Excellent. Really though, I’m still confused as to why this happened.

So, I ask you Big Ten fans, who has the best released throwback uniforms in the conference so far this year? Let’s take a look at what they have to offer:

Jesus, MSU. That is awful. Wisconsin and NW make a run for worst “throwback” jersey out there but you’ve made a solid run at the biggest turd of the year for uniforms. I mean, really, that’s up there with worst uniforms of decade but that’s a completely separate article and question to be asked.
