Welcome back to the B1G Stock Market Game. If you were like me last week, you bet heavily on Northwestern and it
bit you right on the ass! somehow worked?! Sometimes you get lucky, amirite? You feeling lucky? Join us! Can't do worse than most of us...
- Start with an initial investment equal to the average of all current investors. This week, that’s 398 Delaney Dollars ($398DD).
- Select team stocks to buy.
- After the week’s games, sell, hold, and/or buy for the next week.
- Max number of any one team’s shares that you can own is 50.
Team stock value comes from Teamrankings.com. The value of each team is the inverse of their current rating (out of 130 FBS teams), so team #2 costs $129, #6 costs $125, #129 costs $2.
What Teams Should I Invest In?
Buy low, sell high. Or vice versa. Buy shares of your own team, or feel all greasy by buying shares of your rival. While nobody can perfectly predict The Formula, team ratings are pretty much based on their game results, their opponents, and their opponents’ opponents.
Some players diversify, and others go heavy on one stock. You’ll find your niche. If you don’t like the dartboard method, you may want to check out Dead Read’s B1G Stock Report.
Overall, the OTE Index is starting to level out, as the B1G is only 2% worse than they were last week. The investors continue to slide, however, as we collectively lost 9% of our total worth. New week, same story: Investments in rutger will kill your portfolio. Sure, they dropped a stupid 39% this week, but they've got to bounce back sometime, right? Most of us have been bit, some will get lucky with their timing any week now. Might even be a certain interim head coach could get a little dead cat bounce against a still overrated Twerps team on Saturday.
Other bad turnouts, let's see... woof. buttger messed a lot of you up good. MK, HoustonBoiler, may I recommend lemon scented bleach for you? Purdue and Maryland both lost over 18%. Most of us were smart enough to avoid betting against Coach James Franklin and the LAWNBOYZ, but several got caught not believing in his HYPE compatriat, resulting in their portfolio being ROWED over. Nobody truly believed in Nebraska, and that was very smart since their stock took a 10% plunge.
Onto the good. Oh yeah, ya boy pkloa is back in this! Northwestern had a nearly 11% jump, and I was the only one who was stupid enough to invest heavily in them. Ha! Stupid like a fox.
Indiana proved to be a good value investment once again, netting about 6%. 06Lion definitely benefitted from that, regaining a top spot in the standings. Everyone who picked Minnesota should be pleased by their 4% increase. nym.pseudo has taken sole possession of first with that choice. OctoDawg and MNWildcat saw 4% increases by trusting in Michigan, and for that, you two are dead to me.
The opening bell has rung, here are this week’s stock prices:
