Where We Be, What We Be Drinking: Week “4”

It’s another edition of Where We Be, What We Be Drinking: the weekly segment where we find out what your OTE “writers” are drinking to fight off seasonal affective disorder and corona madness. We eat, we drink, we cry, we...no that’s it. Those are the 3 feelings we have left. Let’s see what everyone is up to!

Creighton

I’ll be at home reminiscing about the beforetimes, when I was planning on flying home and going to 2 or 3 games this year instead of living like this forever (WEAR YOUR MASKS). The beer will be some Sierra Nevada Celebration (love me some fresh hop ale) and some assorted New Glarus I found in my beer closet. I was just going to order a pizza, but now I’m craving something a little more homemade so I think I might take one of my chili recipes and try to make it in the Instant Pot since I don’t have enough time to slow cook it before the game.

Townie

This weekend the Townie family will be circling the wagons for a funeral. We will not be watching football. I will be drinking Balcones Pot Still Straight Bourbon in fond memory of the departed. There will be ice, because dehydration is a risk. Also, tell your friends and family that you love them. It’s such a simple thing that we may not do enough.

Barring any travel delays, noon kickoff will see me starting the descent into Washington Dulles. I plan on being a bit toasty by the 3:30 games. Very, very ready to get home for a few weeks!

I’ll be at home with my family. Like I am. Nearly every hour of every day.

Cottage in northern Wisconsin for a mini-Friendsgiving (I just threw up in my mouth), doing mostly outdoor stuff with another couple who we trust to remain socially distanced and that gets tested regularly like us. So I plan to be on the couch, sleeping off a dark meat and stuffing hangover (stop it), possibly venturing outside to start a bonfire, play bags, or just go for a walk in the snow because it’s fall in the Upper Midwest and there’s just nothing better. The plan is to stop at at least one brewery along the way, which as of right now will be Heart of the North Brewery in Ladysmith, so I’ll be drinking something from them and probably some mulled wine. Mmm.

Beezer

I’ll be in Greensboro I assume, and probably at my house because where else would I go? What will I bd? Uhhhh maybe Maker’s and Coke Zero?

I’ll be at home, still drinking upper Midwest beers or perhaps the new quad from the brewery here in town. I know being at home sucks, but I’m kind of looking forward to a chill Saturday of games. I might also put the rest of my Christmas lights up because it’s 2020 and who cares. I shall impose my enthusiasm for C9s on all the neighborhood!

I’ll be at home, drinking local stuff and unpacking baby shower gifts and preparing to convert half of my home office into a nursery.

Boilerman

I’ll be home for this one. Drinking Miller Lite for the now late afternoon kickoff. Supposedly the weather is going to be shitty, so there’s that.

Candystripes For Breakfast

As per usual for a noon kick, sleeping until at least halftime, then coffee to wake up a bit for the second half. After IU-MSU ends, work and Cherry Coke for the rest of the night.

I’ll be drinking the same shit at the same brewery that I have been since I started “writing” for OTE. I wish very much that I could provide more interesting and diverse tales of my journeys, but, I cannot.

I’ll be in LA... had an intense work week this week so I may prefer to DO something fun and LA-esque (that is social distanced) instead of watch the game, but we’ll see. Excited for Rutgers to be favored for once. I think(?) we’ll win... but you know, Rutgersing.

I’m gonna be scrambling to help my father in law put up christmas lights...at 11...and try to get home to see as much carnage as I can. If I can make it back home before Illinois is out of the game, I’m gonna drink me some Traverse City Whisky Co. apple whiskey. If not, Malort it is.

I’ll be in Los Angeles this weekend (Redondo Beach, to be precise). And against all better judgment, I’ll be tuning into the Michigan/Wisconsin game Saturday evening.
