Hi, hello, good morning, and welcome to another week of Where We Be, What We Be Drinking: the weekly segment where your favorite “writers” are stuck quarantining at home, and drink as such.
Let’s go around this weird country of ours and see what everyone is up to for game day. Just kidding. We’re at home. We’re always stuck at home.
Creighton
I picked up the first of my winter brews this week, and the shining star among them so far is Christmas Pancakes from Hardywood in Richmond. I’m thinking it will pair well with breakfast food, so I’m making chicken and waffles (the secret to good chicken and waffles is a wee bit of arugula).
Brian Gillis
Los Angeles. It is only out of some perverse sense of obligation that I’ll watch this week’s battle between Michigan and Rutgers.
Andrew K
Lol home, where else would I be?
MNWildcat
Home AND I have the house to myself! (It’s because the wife works, so when I’m shitfaced at 4pm she will NOT be thrilled.)We’re going all over the map for beers. I’ve got a sour from Sawmill Brewing in Merrill, WI (in honor of our inbred guests for the day), a crowler from Lupulin Brewing in Big Lake, MN, and a couple leftover Bocksliders from Martin House Brewing Co. in Fort Worth. Popcorn’s for eats unless I make some bacon for breakfast (great idea, MNW), and hopefully I’ll be comfortably numb while I Zoom with a badger friend, watch the ‘Cats blow a chance to go 5-0 in the Big Ten, and have my badger wife come home both irritated with work but prepared to gloat at me. I’m fine. I swear. This beer better be good...
Boiler
Since Purdue plays Friday night for some gawdawful reason, I’ll be at home (as if I’d be anywhere else). Once the kiddos are in bed, I plan to break out some Woodford Reserve Double Oaked and sip my way into oblivion.
LincolnParkWildcat
I’ll be at home in Chicago, as always drinking something brewed locally. Probably some IPAs from revolution brewing or half acre.
BigRedTwice
Our worlds are so expansive these days! Shall I watch football upstairs on my iPad or in the basement on the TV? Let’s go with the basement. We have yet another morning game, so I’ll probably put some Bailey’s in my coffee. Tis the season. If it gets ugly, as in losing to Illinois, I will begin my Christmas decorating early. Fa la la la la.
Candystripes For Breakfast
As per usual this season, a B1G Noon Kickoff means sleeping through most of the game, maybe paying attention to the 4th quarter if the game is still competitive, and then going to work to see what the rest of college football is up to. Coffee early, Cherry Coke late and later.
Pkloa
I’m in sunny Tampa, FL for this week. My goal is to try a cubano sandwich at at least 5 different restaurants while I’m here, so Saturday will be spent on that side quest. Cigar City Brewery had some decent beers before, I’ll probably pick up a sixer of those for winding down.
Thumpasaurus
Guess where the fuck I’m gonna be.I’ll probably pregame with a glass of Craigellachie 13. Found if relatively cheap at Costco! Then it’ll depend on how the game goes. If it’s competitive, imma put jager in my hard root beer! If we just get our ass kicked all up and down the field in the first quarter, I might just have to force myself to down all my leftover old homebrew from June.
Dead Read
I will be in beautiful downtown Lincoln. Something new and different. If Nebby’s gonna have a win streak this year, this weekend is the time.
White Speed Receiver
Minnesota, doing Minnesotan things. Probably gonna go with the hot cocoa (mine will be the one spiked with peppermint schnapps) and maybe I’ll watch a little football with the kids.

I’ll be at home with my family. Like I am. Nearly every hour of every day.
Now that you know what your “writers” are doing, head on down to the comments and discuss amongst each other what you’re doing to celebrate and/or mourn another game day. Listen, we’re all in this thing together. We’ll be tailgating for real again soon, but for now let’s enjoy each other’s love of this dumb sport and share how we’re making this time just a little bit more tolerable. At least until Saturday when I hope all your idiot teams lose.
