Pretty bummed I’m gonna need to watch my Rhode Island-at-St. Bonaventure’s games elsewhere now.
NBC Sports Network is shutting down later this year and big events (NHL and NASCAR among them) will migrate to USA Network. Story coming ASAP.

Anywho, there are B1G hoops games afoot. And some happened this week!
Recaps
Illinois 79, Penn State 65
Thump: Penn State is pretty bad. Kofi Cockburn is pretty good, We’re starting to get some more out of the role players like Grandison and Hawkins, but results against Penn State miiiiight not translate to results against Iowa.
Purdue 67, Ohio State 65
BoilerBettor: I had legit concerns about this one. The first matchup at Mackey saw Purdue keep Ohio State at arm’s length and grind out a win. That time, the Buckeyes didn’t have EJ Liddell. This time they did and I had legit concerns about Purdue’s bigs staying on the floor.
As it turns out, this game followed a very different script but one Matt Painter has played before. Ohio State led for most of this game, sometimes pushing the advantage to double-digits but could never deliver the knockout blow. The grind was real and Trevion Williams, Eric Hunter Jr., and Sasha Stefanovic had the table set. When Jaden Ivey stepped back, I thought for certain the freshman was going to pass to Sasha or hope for Trevion to grab a rebound (seriously, he’s 7/33 from deep) but the shot rang true and the Boilers grabbed another road W.
This is not pretty basketball by any stretch of the imagination but it’s winning basketball and this crazy young team is gelling at the right time.
Michigan 87, Maryland 63
BrianB2: Um, holding Hunter Dickinson to 3 points is a small victory, right? Hunter Dickinson has to be the worst name in the Big Ten, right? If not the entire country...Watching the games on mute in the background because I am not very invested does carry the added benefit of not having to listen to Dan Dakich.
Wisconsin 68, Northwestern 52
MNW: ‘Cats forgot to account for Tyler Wahl. Boo Buie managed to commit THREE offensive fouls. Chase Audige has his moments but things just aren’t clicking for Northwestern.
The badgers did what the badgers usually do. If you are not a fan of either of these teams and you watched this game of your own volition, seek help.
Penn State 75, Rutgers 67
The wheels have fallen back off for Rutgers.
Indiana 81, Iowa 69
Probably want to make a field goal or two over the last 12:00 of the game, Hawkeyes.
Candystripes: I watched the first half of the game, was pretty sure Iowa would eventually pull out to a comfortable 7-12 point win, turned the TV off, finished up at work, got out to my car, and heard on the radio “With 2 minutes to go, Indiana leads by 11”, and I could not imagine how that had happened. #TeamChaos didn’t die, it just flipped over to basketball.
Stewmonkey13: Indiana’s pack-line is doing some work and Iowa hasn’t been passing and finding open shooters. Also, Archie hasn’t worn his mask literally at all the entire game.
Just a terrible all around game. This should have been a comfortable Hoosier win if not for free throws. Really, Indiana could have easily won this by 20. It’s part good to great defense by Indiana, but Iowa was also just plain bad, too. The passing has been bad. 4/20 from 3. 13 assists. 37.5% total shooting. Season low in everything, I’d bet.
Joe Toussaint should have played a lot more when it became clear Jordan Bohannon didn’t have it.
It’s a season low on assists and FG%. Iowa did shoot slightly worse from 3 against Gonzaga, but not much. Season low on points, obviously. Worst game of Bohannon’s career. CJ Frederick out after 13 minutes. Good for Indiana, but also just a fucking terrible performance from Iowa, pretty much all around.
Luka Garza was good, though not nearly as efficient as he typically is.

Milwaukee Panthers at Cleveland State Vikings

Future Northwestern head coach Pat Baldwin is working a slow rebuild up in the Cream City, and the Panthers will have their hands full with a Vikings club that should be runner-up to Wright State in the Horizon unless Kentucky does anything wrong and gets them in trouble.
