Northwestern Wildcats 91, Detroit Titans 59
BoilerUp89: Northwestern continues to take care of business in their non-conference. Of course, I am a little annoyed that Boo Buie picked this game to go 2 of 9 from the field and score just 5 points.
Michigan Wolverines 90, Iowa Hawkeyes 80
BoilerUp89: We were promised all offense and no defense and the game mostly lived up to it. Only reason both teams didn’t crack 85 was that Iowa had an uncharacteristically bad shooting night. Michigan also outrebounded Iowa by 9.
MaximumSam: Does Iowa just blow? The coaches caused more drama than the game, with Fran getting another ejection and Juwan Howard causing some sort of...drama? Rumors abound he had an altercation with another coach and the Twitter mill was in full imagination mode. Just another day for the leaders and best.
BoilerUp89: It was over the moment Michigan State’s players slapped the floor in a 67-67 tie game. Don’t slap the floor. Nebraska snaps an 11 game losing streak to Michigan State. Neither team had been shooting the ball well coming into this game and both were top three point defenses. Naturally each team shot over 40% from three.
Juwan Gary had 20 points to lead the Cornhuskers. Malik Hall had a good game for Michigan State with 22 points and 7 rebounds, but his front court mates were no shows. The trio of Sissoko, Cooper, and Carr combined for only 6 points, 6 rebounds. Rienk Mast deserves some credit for his 14 rebounds for the Cornhuskers.
MaximumSam: Sparty constantly fades down the stretch. It is puzzling that such a veteran team, with such veteran guards, turn into the Bad News Bears when the game is on the line. Five Star Freshman Xavier Booker is getting the DNP treatment, and Torvik projects their record to be 18-13 and 11-9 in conference. Not sure that is going to cut it.
BoilerUp89: Any loss to these teams should result in the Big Ten team being kicked out of the conference.
MaximumSam: In that case, go Gamecocks! Anyways, not much going on this week but see you Saturday for an epic day of basketball.
