Well, it’s a busy night at least

Nebraska Cornhuskers 83, North Dakota 75

MaximumSam: Hey, it’s a B1G team letting a bad team hang around forever. North Dakota was up 10 at the break and was up 14 in the second half before the Huskers stormed the corn fence. A balanced affair, at least, Nebraska had six guys in double figures.

Iowa Hawkeyes 103, UMBC Retrievers 81

MaximumSam: BoilerUp said Iowa was scoring 100 win or lose, Luckily for them, it was a win.

BoilerUp89: The game was tied at 31-31 with about five minutes left in the opening half. After that Iowa never looked back. Now you may look at the score and say to yourself “Iowa must have played well, they scored over 100.”, but that’s not what happened. The Hawkeyes needed 84 shots to break the century mark and were aided in getting to that number of attempts by UMBC’s desire to shoot the ball within 5 seconds of crossing the timeline.

Northwestern Wildcats 65, Arizona State Fighting Illini 46

BoilerUp89: Northwestern completely dominated Arizona State in the first half, holding the Sun Devils to just 13 points before halftime. The offense got back on track for the Wildcats too. Boo Buie had 22 points and the team shot over 40% from three.

MaximumSam: Yeah, so this slate isn’t calling our patented independent analysis. We do get two sets of Dolphins and some Seawolves, so that’s fun. The major questions are whether Indiana can finally blow out a midmajor and whether Penn State can take down the French. Get your sweets in before Christmas.

BoilerUp89: I have thoughts though...

#261 New Orleans Privateers (5-6) at #26 Ohio State Buckeyes (9-2) (-23.5), 5 pm

BoilerUp89: New Orleans will play fast and try to get turnovers but that’s about all they’ve got going for them. They are a poor shooting team and should get bullied on the boards and in the paint. They also don’t attempt all that many three pointers so the upset bid is unlikely.

#285 Jacksonville Dolphins (8-4) at #2 Purdue Boilermakers (10-1) (-30.5), 5:30 pm, BTN

BoilerUp89: Purdue gets some practice against a low major - the type of team that has given them issues in the past two tournaments. Senior Jarius Cook is a spot up shooter, but Purdue fans are hoping the bench gets some play.

#201 Stony Brook Seawolves (6-5) at #15 Michigan State Spartans (6-5) (-21.5), 5:30 pm

BoilerUp89: When did Stony Brook join the Colonial? The Seawolves are a good three point shooting team (36.5% on the season), but appear to be facing the Spartans at the wrong time as Izzo’s team has played better the past two games.

#348 Le Moyne Dolphins (5-7) at #114 Penn State Nittany Lions (5-6) (-19.5), 6 pm, Peacock

BoilerUp89: Le Moyne is in their first year of Division 1 play and three of their five wins come against non-D1 teams.

#269 Ball State Cardinals (8-3) at #92 Minnesota Golden Gophers (8-3) (-11.5), 7 pm

BoilerUp89: The co-hosts of the Ball State-Minnesota MTE meet up outside of their two game MTE that saw both programs host and defeat USC Upstate and Pine Bluff. The scores were about the same for both Ball State and Minnesota in those games. The Cardinals have yet to beat anyone inside of the top 200 this season, but they’ve only played Evansville and Indiana State in that category. They are able to get hot from three, so don’t rule out the upset.

#206 North Alabama Lions (6-6) at #78 Indiana Hoosiers (8-3) (-13.5), 7:30 pm, BTN

BoilerUp89: The Lions lost to Morehead state by nine just 11 days ago, but they’ve been all over the place early on this season with an OT loss to an okay Kansas State, but a loss to awful Tennessee Tech (to be fair they also beat Tennessee Tech in what was the rare non-conference in-season home and home series).
