Recaps

Wake Forest Demon Deacons 76, Rutgers Scarlet Knights 57

MaximumSam: Off the court, Rutgers got the commitment from five star guard Dylan Harper, to go along with five star wing Ace Bailey. Rutgers is suddenly Kentucky, east division. On the court, not as great, as Rutgers continues to struggle putting the ball into the basket. Cliff Omoruyi does lots of good things, but being an offensive weapon isn’t one of them - he had four points.

BoilerUp89: Wake pulled away in the last ten minutes of this one as Rutgers had one of their patented six minutes long scoring droughts. That's a real issue for Rutgers, they don't have anyone they can go to for an easy bucket when they need one.

Maryland Terrapins 81, Penn State Nittany Lions 75 (OT)

MaximumSam: This was not beautiful basketball, but this was a good game. Jahmir Young played 44 minutes and dropped 28, while Kanye Clary played 41 and dropped 25. The game was also notable for the sound dropping out for BTN, leading to me scrambling to try and fix my television for part of the second half. Thanks, BTN. Probably a Michigan grad in charge of sound.

BoilerUp89: There were times I thought Maryland was trying to throw this game. Like when they had a two point lead and fouled Penn State on the inbounds pass with 4 seconds to go.

Ohio State Buckeyes 84, Miami Redhawks 64

MaximumSam: Six Buckeyes got in double figures, including Evan Mahaffey, who actually made a three pointer, bringing him to 1-7 for the year.

Minnesota Golden Gophers 76, Nebraska Cornhuskers 65

MaximumSam: Youch. We said Nebraska needed to win this game if they wanted to style themselves a Real Team. They were, in fact, up 15 at halftime and things were good in Husker land. Dawson Garcia hurt his ankle early in the game and left with zero points. It was literally impossible for the Huskers to lose this game. And yet...

BoilerUp89: And yet Nebraska found a way. Scoring 8 points over an 8 minute stretch played a large part of that. Give some credit to Minnesota though. Their defense was a factor in the Nebraska scoring woes.

Previews

#50 Iowa Hawkeyes (5-3) (+7.5) at #27 Iowa State Cyclones (6-2), 6:30 pm, ESPNU

MaximumSam: An all Iowa type of evening, as the Hawkeyes visit the Cyclones in a real contrast of styles. ISU plays relentless defense and is fourth in the country at forcing turnovers, while their offense is helmed by steady point guard Tamin Lipsey, who had a triple double in their last game, a win over Depaul. Unclear how good the Cyclones are - they’ve killed the also rans they’ve played but got bounced by TAMU and Virginia Tech and barely beat VCU. Iowa is still smarting from their whomping by Purdue and is still looking for a really good win. Torvik goes Cyclones, 83-76.

BoilerUp89: Fran is 6-7 against Iowa State and looks to tie up his record in the series tonight. Iowa State's half court offense isn't the strongest - they prefer to get out and run. Between that, the fact they don't turn the ball over, and the fact that the Iowa press just got obliterated we shouldn't see the Hawkeyes press in this one.
