Weekly Gridiron Battles

+

Every year and every week throughout the season, our writers engage in a friendly competition to assert their dominance in predicting the outcomes of Big Ten football games and select marquee college football matchups. While world domination may be a lofty goal, the quest for bragging rights is very much alive.

After seven weeks of intense gridiron action, it's clear that Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State are still the standout teams in the league, especially in the competitive East division. The Wolverines and Buckeyes appear to be pulling ahead of the pack. Meanwhile, the West division remains in flux, with teams like Iowa, Wisconsin, and the potential dark horse contenders all vying to establish their dominance.

As we approach Week 9 in the Big Ten, our writers will once again take on the challenge of predicting the outcomes of all the Big Ten games, both straight up and against the spread. Additionally, in the midst of conference play, we will apply the same process to the top six national contests outside the Big Ten, which we affectionately refer to as our "pick six." Drew Allar's Late Heroics Propel Penn State to Victory Over Indiana

+

In a thrilling contest, Penn State quarterback Drew Allar demonstrated his poise under pressure, turning a potential setback into a game-changing moment. Despite struggling offensively and facing a resilient Indiana team, the Nittany Lions managed to escape the Hoosiers' upset bid with a 33-24 victory, thanks to Allar's late-game heroics.

Penn State entered the game as 32-point favorites, but the Hoosiers proved to be formidable opponents, leading to a tied score with just 2:56 left on the clock. Allar, who had already thrown his first career interception earlier in the game, rose to the occasion when it mattered most. He connected with KeAndre Lambert-Smith on a perfectly executed 57-yard touchdown pass, securing the game-winning score.

Penn State's defense, which had been challenged by Indiana's big plays earlier in the game, stepped up with two crucial late stops. Following the game-winning touchdown, they forced a safety, effectively sealing the victory. NFR Las Vegas
